Synaptics has been working on integrating different sensors into different products to make them more user friendly. One of those sensors is a fingerprint reader, similar to what we are used to on mobile devices. Working with Thermaltake, LiteOn, EVGA and others, Synaptics has integrated their latest fingerprint sensor, IronVeil, into various mice.

This sounds very interesting. I got my wife her laptop with a fingerprint reader on it so she could easily use it at work and lock out her employees but it was the swipe across at a certain speed/angle thing and it just doesnt work for crap so she doesnt use it. I kept hoping fingerprint technology would come into the new age and it seems like this may be a huge step forward. Now to get it off a mouse and be able to use it on a portable pad that can be used on cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc!

I am hoping to get a sample to try out myself as I've been writing on Synaptics
since 2012 and IronVeil has been years in the making! Steve is the lucky duck that took the Synaptics meeting at CES and got a sample to play with! The cool thing with IronVeil is that you place your thumb on the side of the mouse and just wait for the software running on Windows 10 to authenticate you. No messing around with swipes and angles! I'm ready for Biometrics to be here!

I think biometrics is taking WAY too long to get out to the general public in a usable format. No more remembering passwords, just swipe the digit and be done.
Although thieves could cut off your fingers to steal your info.....
