well im not update on the whole SATA shindig. I did install one in my backup rig. No where on the seagate drive was a 4pin molex connector. would this by why the secure connect only works with WD drives?

interesting product from WD. It's a nice product for the easily loose SATA, however I am not sure if all the HD will have the same distance that will fit exactly on that connector. Despite the fact ahtt all HD should have the same connector, sometimes they are just ever so slightly off.

This is one of the reasons, but other drives lack the slots that the SecureConnect fit in. Take a closer look at this photo:

Notice how the standoffs on the SecureConnect don't have a slot in the Seagate drive? That's the major reason -- ie: you can't even plug it in.

It should fit on every SATA drive that Western Digital makes currently for their desktop consumer line. The connector should not be off at all since all of the back plates are made in a plastic mold they should be nearly identical!
