The ABIT Fatal1ty Professional AN9 32X Motherboard
Walking through the ABIT/Fatal1ty booth at E3 this year we spotted one of the upcoming NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP motherboards on display in plain site. This is the first time that ABIT has shown off the final version of their board and Legit Reviews was on hand to bring you the photos. Read on to see the ABIT Fatal1ty Professional AN9 32X motherboard!
According to the product information slip that was in the glass case next to the board we were looking at the ABIT Fatal1ty Professional AN9 32X motherboad for upcoming AMD Socket AM2 processors. The AN9 32X utilizes the NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP with the AMD Socket 940 (Socket AM2) CPU support. It also features ABIT Fatal1ty Guru system management technology and ABIT's dual OTES GT system cooling technology...
It was also noticed that the board only has a single PCI slot. While for some this might be a feature that will never be used, others might be considering the AGEIA PhysX physics processing unit for their next system built. If you run SLI on the ABIT Fatal1ty AN9 32X with a dual slot cooling soluution that the PCI slot will be blocked. This is something that we couldn't help but notice on the board.

I cannot believe that they designed it like that. So if you wanted to run SLI and add an AGEIA based card then you are out of luck. If you did not run SLI and wanted to add an AGEIA and Creative X-Fi then you are out of luck ....
I was looking forward to an ABIT Fatal1ity AM2 based board but not with this design. I guess I will have to look elsewhere, hopefully someone will release a decent AM2 SLI board with decent amount of usable PCI slots.

It will be interesting to see if Abit does any modifications to this board before the official release. Does anyone know if Abit plans on releasing a "non-Fatal1ty" AN9-based board?? It's pretty and all, but how much is this bad-boy going to cost versus the "plain-jane" model?

Just a little puppy trying to make it in a big digital world.
The group that the Fatal1ty boards are supposed to be geared toward is the high end users/overclockers. They are the ones that are going to need the extra slots because the onboard audio will not be good for them they will want the best high-end stuff like X-Fi and will probably want to add a AGEIA card.
I wonder what bright individual at ABIT came of with that board design, they probably will not have a job after the board does not sell to well.
AGEIA might be releasing a PCIe version of the physics card????
Also I hear Creative are already working on PCIe sound cards so the PCI slot might not be needed.
I hope they keep this design.....I have no plans on getting the board, (or amd2) but the more boards that are released with useless PCI slots the better........this will make the various card makers switch to the PCIe inteface sooner.........

But there are only 2 PCIe slots, if you want to run SLI then there goes both of the slots....
So you would not be able to use any other PCIe cards. This is a poorly designed board for users that want to use add-on cards.
