Monsoon II Active TEC CPU Cooling System Review

Used commonly in the aerospace industry, thermoelectric chips (TEC), or thermoelectric coolers, have not been integrated in the cooling of CPU due to previous humidity problems. very cool technology, but I agree 100% with your conclusion that it needed to hit a lower price point in order to be a competitive solution. But still very cool!

Does this cooler fit in a case OK? It looks pretty big. Works pretty well for a 'no-nonsense' air cooler, though is a bit expensive.

After reading the review Vigor Gaming sent this e-mail to Legit Reviews and I thought I'd post it as it's something readers should see. I'm tempted to start doing this on every review we do.

Hi Nate,

Thank you for the very informative review. We will look into the screw situation and correct it ASAP. The manual reflects the first version of the cooler assembly. As for the temperature, I think that it might be possible the thermal power generated by the overclocking might be over the thermal power designed to handle by the Monsoon, which is at Max of 160W and Optimally at about 130W. We will definitely take this back to the drawing board and try to make our next generation even better. Also, the MSRP is at $149. However, we have been selling at a bundle price of $129 and most likely will keep at that price once the bundling promotion is over. In addition, we are in the process of releasing a PCI version (instead of the controlling unit) that is going to be MSRP at $99 and probably will hit the street at around $90. This should be available in about 1 month. Again, thank you very much for your review and I look forward to continued to work with you.

As for testing it in a case... I have not as most of our testing on the open test bench and every other system I have in a case requires the removal of the board to get the HSF off it... If I get a second this weekend I'll stick it in a case, but this weekend is reserved for benchmarking something else that I think you guys will like seeing in upcoming weeks.
