OCZ Launches Water Cooled Memory Modules - FlexXLC

OCZ Technology unveiled the OCZ PC2-9200 FlexXLC memory kit this week and we have a sneak peak at this revolutionary new memory solution today here on Legit Reviews. hese new modules feature the new OCZ FlexXLC heatsink that delivers superior heat dissipation via a hybrid copper and aluminum design alterable between passive air or water cooling. Read on to check this new desgin out!

Here is a shot of one of the modules in the test system over at test bench at OCZ's office. The back heat spreader is copper and looks to screw into the water cooled section that runs along the top of the memory module. Since the heat spreader is two pieces OCZ informed Legit Reviews that they have used a new thermal adhesive to attach the FlexXLC to the modules. The new thermal compound should also improve the heat transfer between the IC's and the new water cooled heat spreaders.

If 1/2" barbs were used then the modules wouldn't fit side by side on many motherboards, so that's why 3/8" barbs were used!

3/8" barbs won't hurt flow much if the system is plumbed properly........;) Use fittings something like what Swiftech came-up with for their VGA Ramcool..............:) I got zero lose in prefromance using them, even stepping down to 1/4" for the Ramcool.

Should be building a Core 2 system very soon..............why did OCZ release this.....they should know me by now.....I can never say no to them....

Can't wait till I see a comparison with Corsair's stuff.

//must resist................gotta start saving.....no resist.......damn "electronics envy"
