Actually, it was 2x 2 liters (4 liters) a day when I was in school. Currently I'm about a liter a day, on a stressful day I can down a 2 liter by lunch.

As for me looking like my avatar... Little less hairy, bit lighter, but yeah fairly close.

Congratulations on getting past the worst of it. Problem is it's in so many products you've really gotta be careful about what you buy. I can get past Cola but Coffee not much chance getting past that for me.

when I was working for a trucking company delivering groceries to convenience stores, it was easy to just grab a 1 liter of Mt Dew and chug it down in a couple stops. By the end of the day, I had 5-6 1 liters and would head home and have a 2 liter with dinner and whatever activity was on for the night.

In the last 8-10 years ago, I've really cut down to maybe a 2 liter at home stretched over 2 days and a 32 or 42 oz Mt Dew a day. I'm not able to completely cut caffeine because I get crippling migraines if I have no caffeine for over 12 hours, but I've managed to reduce my dependency a great deal.

well than i would recomend caffien tablets, because you can still get your caffine with out all the bad effects of soda, its what i take now instead of monster and red bull

Wow, that's pretty nasty to hear how badly that stuff got ya. I guess individual physiology plays a significant role in if & how badly you can get addicted to this stuff.

My one bad vice is I gotta have the fizzy stuff, got so bad I was able to eventually grow to like diet soda when I switched. (I don't drink & don't do coffee, so soda is a vice I keep) I work to drink more juices these days especially in the morning, but I still drink more diet soda than is healthy I'm sure. Going cold turkey on caffeine doesn't give me half the problems everyone else seems to be mentioning, I just stay pretty tired the next morning or two until I can shrug it off by midday, then I'm fine for the rest of the day and a few days after that it doesn't affect me.

While it is extremely hard to find, one thing I've noticed while visiting the Houston area is they have the largest selection of groceries I've ever seen. No where else have I found Diet Caffeine Free soda for every single brand (including Dr Pepper) in 2-litre bottles! They even have non-diet, caffeine free in 2-litres... same goes for Pepsi stuff. For $1 each they're much cheaper than buying cans and more cans... for most of this year I've been slowly taking caffeine out of my diet, and simply buying soda without it was the hardest part to do because it is so hard to find in anything but cans, if you could even find those! I can taste the difference between caffeine and caffeine free sodas, believe it or not it really does change the taste without the caffeine in there...

I avoid energy drinks though, most of them are the equivalent of using pharmecutical drugs to "pick you up" and get you awake... I don't need to be doing that to my body, and I'm sure we'll soon be seeing the effects of some of the nastier energy drink concoctions soon enough.

For those looking to avoid caffeine, be aware some flavors of Ben & Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs ice cream have more caffeine in them than a can of Mountain Dew. :-k Excedrin also comes with caffeine, the Extra Strength Excedrin has as much caffeine as 2.5 cans of Mountain Dew. Anacin is another pain reliver that also has caffeine in it. Even some root beers like Barq's have significant levels of caffeine in them.

WOW nate.. Thank you for the info. I had no idea that there really were addictions to caffeine, or how bad they could really get. I have heard people say they are addicted to caffiene or telling stories about it, but this one really sank in. I dont say that i am addicted, I mainly watch ( or at least try to) what I drink, mainly because of the sugar. Never really gave any thought to the caffeine part of it. Funny thing is, I drink tea as a healthy replacement for cokes. LOL I think i will try to go at least a week without any caffeine or sugared drinks and see what happens.

Nate, really thank you for sharing your experience! It was a real eye opener! lol

I posted this here because I hope others will try it for a few days... I figure many people on here drink more than a few caffeinated beverages a day, so if one other person tries to stop to see what happens it was all worth it. I've yet to have a drink with caffeine in it and it's been nine days now, so all is good.

"Hi, My name is Nate"

....Hi Nate!!!!

"I have been caffeine free for over a week."

:clapping:

AHAHAHHA sorry I had to!

But seriously, because of this post all i have had this week is water for drinks. And even though it has nothing to do with caffeine, I have really been watching what I eat too. So thank you!
