$10 million for capture of Saddam's general

Post by Apoptosis »

The Iraqi government is offering a $10 million reward for the capture of the highest-ranking Saddam Hussein-era official still at large, the prime minister's office said today.

Image
Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri was deputy commander of armed forces under Saddam Hussein.

He is No. 6 on the U.S. military's list of 55 most-wanted Iraqi officials, which describes him as vice chairman of Saddam's Revolutionary Command Council and a part of Saddam's inner circle.

U.S. officials have said he was also involved in Saddam's decision to use chemical weapons against Kurds in northern Iraq in 1988. That attack killed an estimated 5,000 people and left 10,000 severely injured.
If you do the math the Iraqi government is paying out $2,000 per person that al-Duri killed during his time in power. Anyone else want to buy some kevlar, an SUV, and some heat and go over to go hunting? $10 million dollar purse for the winner. I'm almost shocked that a company doesn't start up allowing "human hunts" and offer a guide and all the supplies for your vacation into hell. We already have Hunting For Bambi (Hunting Naked Women) and Live-Shot (Online Animal Hunting), so what damage would real human bag and capture vacations do? A closing thought... think about the waiver one would have to sign for that one!

Sound Off!

The Bambi thing was started here, and shut down almost immediately. They were going to prosecute the guy, but he claimed it was all a scam to get attention.
They will never allow mercenaries to go hunt these guys because it would interefere with military ops in the region, as well as set a very dangerous precedent. If we allowed that, what woul make us different then the other guys setting bounties on ouur heads? whats good one one is good for all.

hunting for bambi is probably the dumbest idea i've ever heard of...

i think $10 million dollard for whomever captures the dude is more of a deterrant than an incentive. if you were in a poverty-striken country where people steal just to get by, would you want to win $10 million? i'd pass on the offer... next thing i know, there'll be a knock at my door and my family will be taken as ransom.

well, that isn't a worry. Every person that has collected on a reward thus far has actually been moved to a different country, a few here in the US.

You are completely missing the point, this man actually has a lot of power in the fact he can conduct warfare using terrorism against the country and our soldiers

Bleh people still listen to the old regime? I thought the "terrorists" just want the U.S. out and didn't agree with the new government.

its more about religion and political views than "the old regime". If you've been to that region of the world, their thinking is much different than ours.

Not too smart for anyone to visit that part of the world. You know... with the kiddnapping and all. Hell same things happen in Haiti and that island (aruba?) where that girl is missing. Horrible world.
