Any fishermen or fisherwomen here? It's Spring and the fish are biting! Surely, computers and everything that deals with computers isn't the only hobby or love that many of you have. For those of you that love to fish or just have fun doing it from time to time post your story here and let's share some ideas and experiences.
For me, fly fishing is more than just a hobby. If I could pick a career outside of a Hall of Fame career playing Professional football or being a Rockstar (HA!) I'd live my life on the Little Red River here in Central Arkansas chasing the big Brown's and monster Rainbow trout with my fly rod. I've always loved fishing and have memories dating back to when I was 5 years old fishing the Little Red River with my Grandfather. 36 years later, I'm still chasing those trout on that same river, although my techniques and equipment have changed. I fell into fly fishing when I found an old fly rod while helping my father-in-law clean out his parents shed. That fly rod happened to have been his from when he was a child and so the lesson's begun. It was minutes later that I was hooked and when I landed my first pan fish with that fly rod I was doomed forever. I've since upgraded to a 4-5 weight Sage fly rod, G Loomis reel and tie most of my own flies.
This weekend I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and will be hunting Smallmouths or Smallies for you die hards out there. I'll be fishing the upper Oauchita river outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas with some friends of mine from work. The flies are bigger and so are the fish. Here's hoping that the weather will hold up this weekend.
Tight Lines!

Spring = Fishing
Spring = Fishing
Don't ask me, cause I know nothing! I'm lost in this world of technology and am barely holding my head above water. Thank the Good Lord for LR, otherwise I would have drowned years ago.

Re: Spring = Fishing
never been fly fishin but i do fish a lot. mostly fer catfish. weve been river fishin a few times but mostly lakes and ponds. biggest cat was a 32 lb yellow cat caught on a trot line on the san saba river in texas. that one made a good fish fry
. but mostly its lakes we could spend days camped at a lake fishin all day and night its hilarious to see some peoples faces when u lay 40 ta 50 catfish across the bed of a truck. the thing that sucks if having to clean all those fish. we havent been fishin in a while but we might start goin out to my grandpas house again and fishin in his pond. we used to be able to catch easy 10 lb channel cats outta it but it rolled a few years back and kill almost everything but the perch. he literally emptied carp outta it that were the size of the wheelbarrow and several loads of catfish and a perch that was bigger than a platter. so it kinda killed the fishin out there fer a while i been lookin forward to bein able to fish out there afterwork again

Re: Spring = Fishing
I used to enjoy the fishing down on the white river in Arkansas. Haven't done it in several years. Now I enjoy the wind on my face and a nice 100+ mile road trip on my bike (motorcycle) at least I did until my dad's accident now I'm still a bit paranoid about the Idiots on the road. My latest theory: go really fast and stay in front of them all
