Holy Crap I Survived BlizzCon!
I just got back last night from BlizzCon and what a trip it was. Blisster and I had troubles getting the rental car back to the lot. Drove around for 20mins and had to call for directions. When I dropped the car off the bill was over $200 for 3 days because I was "under 25". After getting the manager and telling them i had a corporate account with them they got the issue fixed after treating me like a punk kid. Once we made it to the airport I went to the self-service checkin and found out that I couldn't get my boarding pass cause I was too late to get it. You have to be to the airport 40 minutes early not the 35 minutes early like I was. After having some issues with the counter people they tookmy ID and booked me on the next flight from LAX to DFW then from DFW to LAX. Here is your ticket sir you are on standby and the flight is overbooked... GREAT
Blisster and I head upstairs to the security checkpoint at LAX only to figure out that the lady downstairs never gave me my ID back. I had to ask how to go back down from security (up only) and then find it. Once I got my ID back and made it through the security lines Blisster and I made it to the gate in time to find our original flight still boarding. We asked if we can get on again and once again they said nope. I ask to talk to a supervisor and he tells me that we have a 50/50 chance to get on the next flight because it was over booked by 5 paying passengers, but I was next on the standby list since I was a platinum level frequent flyer. TO make a long story short we make it to Dallas on standby just fine and when we got to DFW we had more delays because they put USPS mail on at the last second and had to refigure the weight ballance. I guess they put too much on because the pilot had to floor the plane during the turn of the take off strip. First time I've had to get a running startto get off the runway. In the air to STL!! Safe at last...
Between Springfield Missouri and St. Louis Missouri we went through a rain storm. I was sitting next to Blisster from the forums and an AA Pilot on his way home flying in the back. I was looking out a window with pitch black behind it when all of a sudden a blinding burst of red, green, and yellow light went all around us and slight noise was heard. A second later a bright white lighting strike was seen about 400 feet away from the plane. During this bolt I could see we were in a storm with rain. People started to freak a bit after seeing the lighting strike. I said hey I'm not worried unless the captain beside us freaks out. Right after I say this he gets worried and asks 20 questions on the strike like did I see where it hit and so on. Long story short we landed and after flying in the airforce and then passenger flights daily for 30+ years the pilot next to us has never been hit with lighting.
I made it home and after dinner laid down at 10pm and slept till 8am this morning. Nothing like being worn and stressed out to the max!

wow nice story, you know i have yet to come across any of the bad things everyone says happens to them at the airport. Minus the layoff times between airports, other than that i have been lucky so far i guess. LOL
But yues im glad you had fun, i guess. Think of this way, when bad happens, if gives you something to say other than, "it was great" when you get back!

heheh, surprised you didn't kick some ass when the people at the rental place acted like dicks....That alone would be enough, because as you know we're around the same age column, even if you are closer
; sounded like an adventure and a half......at least you didn't have to hitchhike back to MO with a guy who looked like he belonged on the set of Delieverance, rofl (*hears the horrid, inbred banjo playing and shudders*)...at least if I go to a convention with you it won't be dull, lol
