kill me, please.

Post by -mogwai »

about a week ago, i got a ticket in virginia for getting lost (all lanes became hov-2 lanes).... after i got the ticket, i drove off and used my cell phone to call my mom... got pulled right back over for using my cell phone while driving (i don't live in virginia, so i didn't know the frigging law). both those tickets PLUS processing fee = $314...

i come back to school and found out i got a failing grade for pathology. i'm pretty sure that the professor misgraded a couple of my exams, so i went to talk to him about it. he said that he threw them all away... he keeps them for about two weeks and then throws them away. completely unfair, because he hand grades all the tests and they're all fill-in-the-blank format. he misgraded my first exam, so he probably misgraded another one. i honestly thought i ended up with a c in the class. so, now i need to retake it... i have to pay for the class because i didn't pass.... $500 to my parents.

i called cingular customer service to check on my minutes in late december and the lady told me that i had all my minutes still and that it doesn't show that i've used any, so i was free to use my minutes as i needed (i was wondering because i didn't want to go over).... well, she was dead wrong, because i checked my minutes on jan 11 and i had around 580 additional minutes.... so, i just got my balance and it's $354......

i just paid $425 to take the national board exams. yet, because of the failing pathology grade, i'm not eligible to take it and my entire schedule must be changed... i will be a mixed trimester student (taking trimester 4 classes and pathology, which is a trimester 3 class... but whenever i'm in trimester 5, i'll be taking trimester 5 classes and trimester 4 classes because of the time-slot i'd have had to have given up in order to take pathology... and this trend will continue on until i'm an upper-classman... yay).

i tried getting my old job at school back as soon as i got there so i wouldn't have to sell some stuff i wanted, but the job wasn't open. also, because of the failing grade in pathology, i wasn't eligible for any of the positions that were open, anyways....

so, i'm pretty much living in a constant state of wanting to cry because life's unfair to me.

the cell phone thing happend to me with Verizon, fight that crap and get them to take it off, they messed up not you.

Also talk to your dean about the tests, what your prof did was wrong, he should have held on to them longer, so your at least entited to retake the final and have it regraded since you never got to see your origional final. Use the system, thats why its there, you can challenge any grade.

as for the other stuff... bummer and good luck sorry about the tickets, and lets hope you can get pathology passed so you can be eligeble for work/tests.

I made 4000 dollars working full-time this summer. Bringing my overall bank account to about 4800 dollars.

My rent, including utilities is 525 a month- including this month is 5 months = $2625.

I average 100 a month on food = $500.

My tuition and fees for a semester is around 4500. I pay $1800 and the rest of it is in loans, no grants since my dad makes over 100K a year (but we live in DC, his savings from year to year are no more than 10K), no scholarships since I transferred universities.

1800 + 500 + 2625 = 4925, so my bank is empty and I had to borrow from my dad and get him to support me for this following semester, which doesn't even include the 10K I have in loans already.

I don't even buy books, I borrow what I can from library/friends- and get older editions of current textbooks. And I try to steal/take advantage of people as much as possible, which gets me a few meals from time to time ;p

I won't have a car for a long while unless I decide to commute 2 hours a day to use that 525 a month for a car, but then again insurance and gas costs might rack up higher than I can afford. I used all my christmas presents to buy myself an MCAT prep book, I'm hesitating on asking my dad for 1500 so I can take a Kaplan prep course.

It's not really bad luck but just a tough financial economy for students right now, I can't work part-time because I have demanding classes and long labs, I spend alot of time studying and doing work, and I'm an officer of an organization that also drains 10-15 hours a week of my time. I'm taking one less class this semester, to free up a couple hours a day for MCAT prep.

It's alright being broke though, just worried about my classes and mcats- if I can get to where you are, then at least I'll have some sense of financial security even if I'm paying through med school with loans. Maybe I can declare myself independent from my father and get the government to finance me more.. then if I was a company I could file for bankruptcy.

You might want to fight the Virgina tickets through their court system. I had to fight a ticket in Virginia and had to mail my reasons for not getting the ticket and the judge through the case out - no ticket fine for me nor did my Maryland license get canned.

What happened is that my room-mate impersonated me for a speeding ticket that was at least 10 hours away from where I work. I had proof that I was at work at the time the ticket was issued.

I find it frustrating that the VA trooper gave you a ticket for using a cell phone. Are there signs up on the VA border telling you about this law? If not, then you might have a valid argument for that one. And getting lost, if you were driving safely maybe a reduced fine on that one. However, I have to admit that proving you were driving safe and then get another ticket for using a cell phone while driving might hurt you on that one.

The problem is if you go to court and lose, you have to pay the fines AND court fees

dude, i'm from maryland. tell me where you found the information about mailing the judge, please.

i never saw anything about cell phones... only radar detectors (they're illegal in virginia).

i slept over at a friends' house after the usc/ut game and i was trying to drive home this morning. i was on i-66 missed the 495n exit and after the exit, all lanes became hov-2. i couldn't throw my car in reverse on the highway or i'd get a ticket, so i went to find the first exit to turn back around. i came across a cop standing in the road and i thought "thank God... maybe he can help me find my way."

so, i approach him with my window rolled down and i'm like "hey officer, i'm lost... could you help m-" and he cuts me off and says "do you know why i'm stopping you right now?" and i'm like "??? uh, i'm just lost... all i need is directions." he goes "i'm stopping you for hov violation. please pull over." so, i'm like "uh, ok, but i'm just lost.. i just ne-" and he cuts me off again and says "I SAID PULL OVER!" as he reached for his holster.

so, i pull over and he asks for license and registration and whatnot and i hand it over. about 5 minutes later, he strolls out of his dicksuckmobile and gives me a ticket for hov violation. there was no sign letting me know... only worn away diamonds on the pavement AFTER i'd already gone too far. that's why i was trying to get off on the exit and turn back the way i came.

so, now, i've got a $107 ticket for getting lost...

then, i got a ticket for calling my mom on my cell phone right after the ticket. virginia has a law against driving while using cell phones that i didn't know about. $207. awesome.

thanks a lot, officer asslunch mcdicknose...

the big problem right now is the fact that i go to school in st. louis... i came back to st. louis on jan 10. this happened on jan 5. my court summons is on feb 8. i can't just hop a plane and fly to virginia to fight the tickets... that wouldn't make any sense.

it's just a part of life man.....nobody knows this except a couple of people, but due to my losing a good job during the summer, and not making enough now, I almost lost my house.......20k in equity almost vaporized right before my eyes....but I got extremely lucky and the law firm handling the foreclosure said I could reinstate, so I went to my mortgage broker and got a second mortgage, but through a high-ass interest rate, hard money lender. We all go through crap, some to greater degrees than others, you just gotta learn how to handle it....as far as the tix though, I would challenge it in writing since you couldn't get out there.....I'm pretty sure you could do that, or at least try and call, explaining the situation.

personally, I believe cops are out for the young-looking males anyways.....I've gotten two speeding tickets within two months of each other, and in each situation, yeah I was speeding but there was someone doing at least 10 MPH faster than I was.....yet when you try to call in a robbery (yeah I was robbed at one of the apts I lived at) with plenty of SOBER, reliable witnesses (all young, like 18-25), they treat you like a piece of crap and act like they're gonna do something, but then you don't hear jacks**t from them period, so you have to call and force them to find the guy who did it (yeah, it really happened), and even then the guy gets off with a slap on the wrist......

once again, crap happens, and knowing how to handle it can take you a long ways down toward being more composed during situations like this....my rant for the day......flame away!!

I called the number that was on the summons and asked to talk to someone about the situation. That was a long time ago. I'm not sure if there's even a number on the summons anymore. :p Left Maryland back in 1990.

In my case it was the last summons. My room-mate was intercepting the mail from me before I got home from work. I only found the last summons because I was cleaning up the apartment. Otherwise, I would have been driving with a suspended license in Maryland with probably a hit on my head in VA. Taught me a lot about what con-artists are like.

High occupancy vehicle...kind of a misnomer since 2 in the vehicle is considered "high occupancy".

ass goblins!

i mailed the courthouse in virginia a request for a continuance a few weeks ago, citing that i'm in a different state going to school and that i wanted to plead my case in court.

i just got a letter in the mail stating that i missed my court date and that my license was going to be suspended if i didn't pay $334 to the court by either cc or check.

WTF!??! goddamn mother-raping sac-faces...

they even charged me $20 extra for missing the court date or something... f*cking buttholes... I GO TO SCHOOL IN MISSOURI AND LIVE IN MARYLAND!!!
