ALL reality tv shows bite
I watch the Olympics here and there, but most of the stuff is boring! have you watched Curling...oh my heavenly lord shoot me.
Of course the tv coverage is terrible also...always have commercials when something happens, or when they go to a commercial and return, the next 5000 people already went and they never say a word about it.

go curling, go curling, go....away that is :p

I love Hockey but I think they shouls leave the Olympics to the players not in the Pros. Persoaly I think it makes it far more enjoyable to watch people I have bever heard of play. Kids from small towns, universities, IHL leagues, etc. People who may only have that one chance for glory.

Man I was zoning out yesterday on the curling! One of my favorite events. It is so random, I wonder what the training regimen is like? It is the olympic sport anyone could do.KnightRid wrote:I watch the Olympics here and there, but most of the stuff is boring! have you watched Curling...oh my heavenly lord shoot me.

Personally, I can't stand American Idol. . .
As for the olympics, I just forget to watch it. I don't even know what channel they are on. I would like to watch figure skating, though. Hockey lost my respect when I heard a Blues player is on the team (I'm a Blues fan, but this year...c'mon!!)
Ah, well...I'm just so caught up in the happenings of my own life, I forget to worry about other people's careers...

it seems to me, as i grow older, that no one really gives a sh*t about things much anymore. it's not just recently... it's throughout the years.
less and less trick-or-treaters
no one cares about olympics anymore
no one cares about what's going on in govt or social security
being home for the holidays isn't as big an issue anymore
it's just like everyone picks up their american flag and ignorantly waves it high and proud as they hustle and bustle their way to drop their kids off at daycare on their way to work only to pick them up when work's over just in time to spend an hour of quality time with them before you put them to sleep and go to bed. all for what? so we can survive and afford living here anymore? so we can pay over hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to some bs war (paying for both our side and the enemy's, too)? to squander our hard-earned coin on some law a rich bastard democrat/republican legislator made that won't do squat for the poor or hungry or tired or weak? so our fat asses can sit around and watch garbage like american idol while we sit our fat assed children in front of tvs and computers and while they eat their mcdonald's dinner because we can't afford healthy, natural groceries anymore?
is this what life is supposed to be like?... being a complacent consumer, constantly churning coin for "the man"? it's like we're slowly, yet increasingly, losing our ability to be human and giving our human consciouness to whatever, whether it be media companies, the government, or those leech bastards the pharmaceutical companies; they who brainwash us into giving up our ability to know when to eat, sleep, drink, laugh, cry, crap, piss, concentrate, relax, have sex, be happy, be sad, etc... it's like we just subconsciously cowtow to whatever anymore and put ourselves, our families, and our health (mentally and physically) on the back burner. our posessions and constant need for instant gratification end up controling us.
by the way, did you guys know that within the past 42 or so years, we've come up with about 100 different mental disorders? also, did you know that pharmaceutical companies pay people to come up with disorders that would be able to be clinically distinguishable from two seemingly identical disorders? how much does that tell you about where we're heading? soon enough, laughing at a sarcastic joke will have some kind of disorder label and you won't be able to change the channel without running into 9 different commercials telling you how you're abnormal for being normal and that you need to take their pill (which may cause a litany of side-effects).
but what am i gonna do about it? i'm just as hypocritical as the next guy... and i can't do anything about it, either... nor do i really want to, either. i'm too addicted to what i perceive to be reality and free will.
EDIT: sorry for the rant... i didn't take my a.d.d. medicine... my mind tends to reel when i don't take it (as if that's so abnormal).

My wife at one time wanted to label my daughter ADD and give her meds. Our Pediatrician and I said "No!" to that idea and while she still has moments of energy (What fricking kid doesn't) she is becoming quite the little brain these days. While she does watch some mindless nickleodeon garbage, play UT2004 (Which stimulates quick thought and reflexes for her) we also have her roller skating once or twice a week and my wife is always on top of eating healthy.
For me though that monotanous cycle of daycare, work, daycare, small time with kids, small time with wife is a grueling exercise that I recognize and it is very frustating at times.
Thanks for the rant.
Edit: Oh about the flag wavers. They make me wretch. Where can you find the biggest concentration of these flag waving do gooders? At your local Wal-Mart destroying their town's own small business infrastructure. Praise the Lard and Yankee Doodle Dandy!!!
I alway wish that those little "I support (insert holier than thou cause here)ribbons that are magnetically stuck to their cars will trap particulates and slowly grind the cars finish off in a nice ("I am an idiot) pattern. What these froeign made pieces of plastic should say is: "I am an idiot american consumer that funds foreign governments by buying throw away sweat shop items produced by slave labor" When I see those little ribbons on cars I know to stay clear of that person. Kind of like those Ho tattoos you see on the lower backs of young women these days. It instantly says to me. "I'm a Ho" Like a Ho Beacon.
Anyway my $.02

i'm watching the olympics right now and it's frigging nerve-racking trying to cheer the americans on.
the super g course is causing everybody problems at the bottom of the course. the snow is too fast for the skiers at the end of most of the course because it snowed last night. last night, they tried running the course and no one could see, so they, in essence, demanded a day's delay on the event until the weather cleared up.

I hate American Idol. I only watch Olympic hockey though as for as the Olympics go.
