Waste of power, especially graphic intensive ones.

Set your monitor to turn off instead.

Never use one at home, if I get up I turn the monitor off.

Now at work I use a screen saver set to "blank" so when I walk away no one can walk up and monkey with my machine. Since I have unrestricted access to the net on my machines I can't tell you how many times I've come back to my office and someone is trying to use one of my machines to look up sports scores for the *insert sport* pool that is currently being run (witch is also against company rules).

Screen savers don't save anything, I set it so it turns off my monitor after 5-10 minutes.

Actually I do both of what Bubba and Zertz mentions.

My screen saver is blank (saves energy per pixel) and after a longer time, turns the monitor off. At 13cents a Kwh, I need to save something at home.

The only thing I don't do power management on are the computer hard drives. The spinning up/down isn't all that great for them. In the past, I've had issues with power management and HDDs.

If I wasn't married, I've seen some good ones, but now I just turn off the monitor.
