Terrorists & Lasers

Terrorists may seek to down aircraft by shining powerful lasers into cockpits to blind pilots during landing approaches, U.S. officials warned in a bulletin distributed nationwide.
The memo, sent by the FBI and the Homeland Security Department, says there is evidence that terrorists have explored using lasers as weapons.

Hell, that only matters to the pilot because the planes can land themselves.

I totally forgot that
MOST planes can take off and land without a pilot at the controls.

Not quite true (though it is possible) ,but of all the possible attacks, this is least likely.
If you can hit the pilot in the eyes with a laser, why not use a gun? or take out several tires at the critical moment?
this is more CNN making news out of 'released' info, rather than covering new info

19 days have past since I posted this article and just tonight it turns out
this is happening...
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Six commercial airliners in the past four days have had their cockpits illuminated by laser beams while attempting to land, a government official told CNN Wednesday.
The incidents have happened "all over the place" and in "kind of odd places," the official said without elaborating. None of the flights was affected.
This makes me feel better seeing how I am flying again next week!
