While this is off topic it really isn't as these two countries produce the majority of all consumer electronics in the world!

Voting is under way in parliamentary elections in Taiwan which could shape the way the island handles relations with China.
All 225 seats in the Legislative Yuan are being contested, the first electoral test since March's disputed presidential race.

President Chen Shui-bian narrowly won then, and his DPP hopes now to win its first parliamentary majority.

A DPP win would alarm China, which says the party wants formal independence.
Every single seat in the Taiwan house is up for grabs! I'll be keeping an eye on this one as well as everyone who also works in Southeast Asia.

I knew the disputes between the two countries, but never were impacted by them till I tried to fly from Taiwan to China... They don't have any flights between the two countries. I had to fly from Taiwan to Macau to China due to the political unrest. Added a good 4-5 hours to my trip just because the two don't allow direct flights.

Yeah my brother lived in Taiwan for a few years and then moved to China and lived there for a while, he said things were always tense between the two. I don't know how much he cared about the politics. The interesting part is that my Sister in law is from Taiwan. Its funny to because he is 30 and she is my age (23).
