The dumbest thing ever. Missed the Indy game on Thanksgiving because of that, will miss the last, I repeat the last game of the Pats season because of that bull****. Let me remind you, they may be trying to go undefeated in the regular season. I will also miss Romo v Favre to NFL Network. WTF

Yup! There's a battle going on between ComCast ( maybe other cable providers too) And the NFL has gone to court to TRY and force ComCAST to carry NFL Network as a regular channel (and earn $0.80 per month per subscriber even if the don't watch football.
CC is instead making NFL network a seperate packge item for $5 per user per month.
since I'm not a football fanatic, I'm on CC's side, plus I don't see what right the NFL has to force an extra 80 cents a month out of all CC cable subscribers, almost like a tax.
Pro Football already makes a huge amount of money on free network TV, now they're trying to squeeze us some more, with less actual coverage.

I don't know much about Pro Football, but I do know that the networks make a fortune off of commercials.
With all that revenue, it's hard to believe there isn't enough to go around. Just look at the writers strike for example...greedy networks and greedy actors is my guess.

Damn glad I gave the cable company the finger a few years ago. I can sit back and watch my NFL network on DISH
Cable companies are going to put themselves out of business with the excessive costs of service!

I hear ya, have the same issue with ESPNU. I typically miss one KU game a season due to it being exclusively on ESPNU.
NFL Network is garbage for the most part, I don't really care about old games and their in-game commentary is usually horrid. I got it with the HD package through my cable provider, but would never pay for it individually.

I have been fed up with cable pricing for some time now. A few weeks ago I got yet another price rate increase sheet from them. I promptly picked up the phone and cancelled my cable services effective at the end of my billing cycle, Jan 9. I have no idea what I am going to do after that.

I have DirecTV, so I'm one of the lucky ones. I've heard many people play the different providers against one another & actually get an acceptable rate per month. I know I did that years ago with DirecTV and they locked me in to the current rate I'm paying (think it's $34.99 with all channels except Showtime & HBO).
The Packer/Cowboy game is being broadcast on the local ABC affiliate, so maybe they'll do the same for the Pat's game for you.

I was paying a little over $90 per month for extended basic and high speed internet...that did not include digital or any premium channels...quite a rip-off. A few months ago I called them complaining about the high prices and they gave me a 50% discounted rate for 6 months. That rate ends on Jan 9 and I once again become a free agent.
Verizon is advertising DSL for $19.99 per month, but requires a 2 year contract. I hate contracts, and DSL is so slow compared to cable. I can't win!
Once you leave Comcast, you can then come back at a promotional rate...guess I will do that and see what happens from there, but playing that game gets old too. I wish someone would come up with some fair pricing.
I am looking into Direct TV or Dish, but I still have to figure something out for Internet.

I can highly recommend AT&T DSL... I have their "Elite" package & I can say that I'm happy I switched. It was actually recommended to me by another member here
I'm currently paying $55-$60/mo. for the entire package with phone service btw.

Well, usually getting ~ 600KB/s down, and sometimes around 70KB/s up... keep in mind that they are running fiber in certain areas.. it's going to allow them to pass Dish Network over telco lines w/bandwidth somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30mb/s if i'm not mistaken.

Yeah, $55-60/month for Phone/DSL & another $35/mo for DirecTV................. $90 luv you long time
Plus, I don't like getting my bandwidth throttled if the neighborhood is busy browsing pr0n

same here in NJ, in my neighborhood they are putting in FiOS and im gonna swich to that once my 99$ per month for all 3 from comcast runs out. and btw i get a lot of cable stuff free, (HBO, Showtime, all the sports stuff) the trick is threatening to swich to dish or verizon

and although im not a fan of comcast throttling my ports and restricting my p2p bandwith, i will admit there service is damn fast take a look

Ah Ha!!! Another thing about DSL I've certainly forgot to mention. Thank god we aren't in the UK though.. they are limiting their download at certain times of the day to less than 1/2 the advertised speeds.

i have actually figured out a way to get around sand vine, i just set my bittorent scheduler to turn off from 6am to 9am and from 3pm to midnight. im not an expert in p2p protocal so i cant explain why it works, i dont even know why it works, i just messed around with it for awhile and found that that works. my guess is because those are the time when less bandwith is used

ibleet if they are putting in FiOS in your neighborhood then i would recomend that. im switching over before the end of the year because they are running a promotion exactly like the comcast triple play thing but when you switch you get a free 19'' sharp hdtv. i plan on using mine as a replacement for my old 15'' gateway from 2002

Comcast isn't too bad, I've never experienced any throttling here

comcast is fast, about 12mbs down and 1.5mbs down. FiOS is faster, 30mbs down although im not sure of the up speed
