Borat is dead. Sacha Baron Cohen (above) told a British newspaper he's retiring the clueless Kazakh journalist as well as his alter ego, aspiring rapper Ali G. "When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing," the 36-year-old actor-comedian said in yesterday's Daily Telegraph. Baron Cohen brought Borat to the masses last year with his movie, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan." He first introduced the character on HBO's "Da Ali G Show." (AP)

Its quite funny that Sacha Baron Cohen has a degree from oxford/cambridge (somewhere like that), and then went on to do ali G things.

I am sad. I am sure though, In a few years someone will talk him into picking Borat back up and doing something with it.

I can't wait for new characters!

What did you think to the sweeny tod movie?

I got dragged to see it by my girlfriend. Gah, I hate musicals. So it was like torture having to sit through and watch it.

this sucks, he was one of my favorite characters. funny most of the time, although some of his jokes were tasteless (rarely).

Well with any luck he'll come out with something better. He is a character actor and comedian after all. It's what he does and like any artist he cannot stand still for too long. I for one think it's a good thing and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

I never even finished the Borat movie, after watching a lot of it turn out to be fairly weak comedy that relies on shock value. One fine example is he ruined that particular bathing suit for me, those who have seen the movie will know what I mean. I won't really miss either of those characters and should I start to even forget, I'm sure someone will throw in a Borat quote sooner or later but always before the memory fades. :)
