CES has no shortage of displays. And when MAKE offered us some TV-B-Gone clickers to bring to the show, we pretty much couldn't help ourselves. We shut off a TV. And then another. And then a wall of TVs. And we just couldn't stop. (And Panasonic, you're so lucky that 150-incher didn't have an active IR port.) It was too much fun, but watching this video, we realize it probably made some people's jobs harder, and I don't agree with that (Especially Motorola). We're sorry.

Basically Gizmondo went around and turned off displays during the show and during companies presentations...

Sounds like fun, but watching it in action is just cruel, especially mid presentation by the samsung guy.

Yeah i watched that and at first it was funny, but then they started to mess with people and thier presentations. I got one for x-mas and had some fun with it at frys. But using it here (at CES) was just the wrong place. Either that or they shouldnt have dont it to people during thier presentations.

During the gaming competition and the presentation was bad, but other times it was fine

The guy that did it is now banned from future CES events, they are also considering further restrictions on Gizmodo and the whole Gawker media group. If they implement the second, that is a lot of blogs that are restricted in some way.

Well unless the order comes from someone at Gawker, it doesn't look the case.
I asked Gizmodo publisher Nick Denton if he was going to fire the Gizmodo crew for their prank. "No," is all he said in an instant message. He did not reply to followup questions.

Lets put it this way, someone will go to CES and say look if we fire these people can we go to CES again? CES will cave, they will fire the people, and they'll start being able to make money again

At department stores it might be fun but at CES a once a year event it was a little much.

@Brian Lam: come one you interrupted sales demostrations, you were f*****g up the motorola dude... do you have any idea of what kind of stress the tech guys have to keep those tv's running? do you know how important was the presentation for the Motorola dude? your childish, idiotic, snobbery prank only shows that you don't respect anyone because you have self labeled as above everyone, RESPECT BRIAN F*****G RESPECT... this is what is all about, if you f*****g turn off the tv at gizmodo is one thing, if you go f*** up the work of other people isn't funny at all, you are not respecting them, with what you have been telling, you are destroying the credibility of Gizmodo -what is left of it, the fanboysim, the one sided notes, the stupid and less than informative articles-, also you have opened the doors for other idiots like you to start doing "pranks" and being the headache of people WORKING AND EARNING THEIR SALARIES at electronic conventions... are you happy with this? as said before RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE!.
I say ban the Giz and Engadget crews for a year or two, after lets see how funny they think it was.

i got my son one of these, and he got in lots of trouble for shutting down the class tv during a "very important" anouncement by the principal regarding school pride bumber stickers
then he go in even more trouble for changing the channel to jerry springer during the school's morning anoucements
i wasn't mad, kids are supposed to do stuff like that. but at ces is just the wrong place and the wrong time

I stopped reading engadget / gizmodo last summer, their articles were too miscellaneous, never got too much "real" information out of them, and it seemed like whenever apple came out with an announcement, both of the sites would stumble over themselves trying to get the attention of Mr. Jobs, although engadget seems to have won that race. just my opinion

LOL, good times. I would not do it during someone's presentation though. Public speaking sucks enough without someone messing the whole thing up. Knocking out the banks of TVs was pretty good though.
I read some of the comments under the vid and always laugh when people say stuff like "grow up already" and "you aren't 15 anymore."
So that type of gadget has been out for quite a few years now, a buddy of mine used to switch channels at a bar during Sunday night football games (10 years ago-ish!). He had one of those watches that could do it.

I agree with all of you guys. CES is not the place for that kind of prank. I wonder if gizmodo hires 14 year olds.
