I read this story and thought it was kind of mean...What was he thinking? Publicity stunt?

I don't know... myself, I think it was pretty tacky to ask for it. I think the press is making more of it then there really was,. I think Daunte misunderstood what the kid wanted, probably thought he just wanted to see it or something...but then the kids parents start going on about getting a safe and such.
I think everyone wanted to see a big gesture, but honestly, would you have the nerve to ask someone to give you their $75,000 necklace. I know, I know, the kid is paralyzed, but there are alot of paralyzed people out there, and they all don't ask for someone elses Bling Bling.
I think Daunte is being nice just offering to buy the kid something else.

I kind of took it that the kid was sort of joking about the necklaces when he asked for it...Instead of giving it to him in the first place, he should have just smiled at the kid to acknowledge him or something. If he wanted to do something special, he should have told him he'd send him something else. He never should have "pretended" to give him the necklaces in the first place.

I don't think he pretended to give him anything. I think he let the kid see it and the kid and his parents thought it was going to be their meal ticket. I guess it all goes into how you read the story....by reading the first paragragh it looks like Culpepper was giving it to him...but if you read the rest Culpepper was keeping an eye on his stuff, and made it clear he wanted it back.
I still think it was pretty tacky to ask for it in the first place, like just because the guy is a star and has money he's obligated to give him anything in the first place.
