Global Warming on Mars - Photo shows avalanche

Who say global warming is something that is just on Earth... Seems Mars might have a Global warming issue also ;) A robotic spacecraft circling Mars has snapped the first image of a series of active avalanches near the planet's north pole, scientists said Monday.

A false color image from NASA taken February 19, 2008, shows an active avalanche on Mars.
The image, taken last month, reveals at least four avalanches of fine ice and dust breaking off from a steep cliff and settling on the slope below. The cascade kicked up massive debris clouds, with some measuring more than 590 feet across.

Proof that global warming isn't caused by humans? How interesting! Unless Kuato has been driving his HUMMER around like mad!

Even if we're not the cause, I still think we should tread lightly and try to go green. If not to prevent global warming then to preserve fossil fuels that let people like Jeremy Clarkson have so much fun. Even if we're not the cause, we haven't helped much.
BTW I love your new avatar vicaphit, was LMAO for over a minute when I first saw it. Just something about that picture and imagining his mother telling him "your face will get stuck like that!" Anyway, great avatar.

I agree, I think everyone should start buying more efficient cars, and hybrids and such, but I don't think that we are the ONLY cause of global warming, as Al Gore seems to think. People take things way too seriously when it comes to this subject, and it is not as bad as everyone thinks.
About the avatar, I had to change it since the primaries are over, and I was sick of seeing Hilary eating everytime I posted.
If everyone drove Ariel Atoms, the world would be greener, I read somewhere that they get 33 MPG! Thats better than my Civic!

33MPG is nothing, oh wait, US gallons dont equal UK gallons. Hmm, well I was going to say that my dad had a citroen C1, and that got just under 70mpg when he was driving motorway (freeway) back and to work every day.
Athalad: have you seen that episode? Its brilliant.
Actually all topgear is brilliant

And I get to watch it on my tellybox before you can

This was the US gallon, it was a US based website, and talking about the Atom sold in the US. 33 MPG is actually pretty good in the US, where we have SUVs all over that get 10-15 MPG. I wish we all had small cars, so you could feel safe buying a smartcar or something. Smart cars are way too small with all of the Hummers, and giant pickup trucks/SUVs in the US.

Well, unfortunately many of the cars stateside still don't get anywhere near that kind of gas mileage. It seems 70mpg(UK) is around 58mpg(US). I can only really think of one car that got that kind of mileage (the Honda CRX/delsol) and its been discontinued! What a...what a load of
bollox
oh god, what is happening to me...
Anyway, just goes to show how much better cars run on the LP gas you guys use over there...

Nope. And it seems that the cable package I'm getting doesn't get BBC

Looks like it's time to find a good place to download episodes...oh, and Dan, be glad we're not keeping score like you are with Matt, as many times as you've misspelled my name, I'd be quite far in the lead

That is because I never actually read your name, I just recognise the shape the letters make and recognise it as your accounts name.
I think if i stopped and tried to pronounce it (and did it enough till I remembered it) i wouldnt miss-spell it as much (I normally give up trying to spell it when i know it looks wrong and copy and paste it from your posts

)

Global Warming on Mars
Because yeah you know avalanches NEVER happened on earth before all the fuss about global warming
and come on for all of Mars and Earth's relative similarities they are still very different places its kinda ignorant to assume that just because they found an avalanche on mars that its caused by a Mars version of global warming.
