Did you Buy a Phone in Q1 2008 (January-March)

I just posted this story on the front page - http://legitreviews.com/news/4741/

I am just wondering how many forum members have bought a phone lately... I for one haven't upgraded since I bought my Treo 680 back in Jan 2007. I personally haven't upgraded as the Treo 680 is great for e-mails and text messages, which I do the most of. I also don't see any new phones that jump out at me and the fact I don't have the money to spend on one.

If you bought one, which model did you get?

Son's phone broke. So we purchased him a cheap AT&T <$20 phone that has basic text features.

Two years ago I picked up a Motorola flip phone that still works great today. I don't need all the fancy gadgets like the kids do.

It seems the majority of people here are voting no.

If the membership had more high school or college members, the rating would turn the other direction.

I have to say that text messaging has become an invaluable tool for me. If I'm in a meeting and don't have my laptop with me, then I can send texts and get answers quickly from team members. The team I'm on is spread throughout the country and for quick questions or to let someone know some interesting information texting is very handy.

I also manage 5 email accounts and surf the web through it on a regular basis.
I typically upgrade phones every 12 months or so. So I'm 34 and my phone has become very much part of my daily life.

going to buy my wife a Samsung A737 for Mother's Day. If it can stand up to my daughter's 8k texts a month, it should be able to handle 100 texts and plain old phone calls. I'm probably going to get myself a Blackberry Curve. I've been looking at them for a while and have decided the time has come.

?!?! Is your daughter mute? I cannot comprehend how someone can use 8000 text messages in one month! She is going to get some serious carpal tunnel syndrom.

I just bought one four days ago because my old one has been dropped (multiple times), the case-screen cracked, the case broken and super-glued to the point where I couldn't live with it anymore. I got a Motorola W370 from TracFone. Yes, prepaid providers often suck (they crippled the USB port and web browser) but unless I could find a $15/mo plan with a free phone it's not worth it for me to switch to a monthly plan.

They also restrict your wallpaper and ringtones, but a SIM card reader/writer fixes that  :finga:
