A couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted an ATI X850 instead of the two XFX 6600GTs i've been using. I went to a well known Review sites for sale trade section and found exactly what i was looking for. I recently bought a 3.4GHz LGA 775 CPU and Intel 915 PBL board so I offered them in trade with the person and he agreed. Since this perosn had been a member of this community for awhile, and others had dealt with him...and me eing pretty trusting I sent out my stuff and gave him a tracking number. After not getting a tracking number in return, and not recieiving my stuff I got into investigating the guy, who is from Santa Cruz CA. Turns out he is a 19 yr old kid that has stolen more than $10,000 worth of stuff recently, and I was one of many people who were taken. Sadly, my stuff is gone for good, but due to my persistence and being really pissed of, the guy was arrested on fraud and possession of stolen property charges this last week, and several people were fortunate to get their stuff returned.
So, still wanting that video card, and with my wif'es birthday coming up quick. i decided to sell my recently purchased 17" Toshiba laptop, awesome lappy. Not wanting to deal online anymore I placed the ad in the local paper. A guy called on it Saturday afternoon and wanted to see it, and arrived shortly after dark.....what I didn't know was that he had a friend, and when I went outside to meet them and show them the lappy, one grabbed it, and the other whacked me on the head and they took off with my stuff.............
I guess I just don't understand people and why they do dishonest and mean things. I'm a pretty big dude, but I never had a chance in this, just didn't see it coming. To top it off the assh0les ran over my leg on their way out.

OMG! I hope the first dude is getting it in the a$$ early and often Image  As for the last 2 guys. I would so hunt them down and make them PAY :axe:

What part of the country do you live in? Keep us posted.
I think you could have won your own Chaintech board with that one (if you slimmed it down to under 100 words) :P :)

LOL.....Geez...no more giveaways or contests.....what an ordeal.
I live outside Las Vegas, a city I very much love, in a very nice community....just a couple of guys who were scumbags. Believe me, after I came to my senses I did go out looking for them.
The story about the first guy was kind of funny. I talked to a detective who wasn't real enthusiastic about persuing it. I was very persistent about it and he relented....a couple of days later he called me and told me he was glad i was so persistent as it turned out to be a very good, very large case.
They arrested him this last week and are in the process of tracking down all the victims and trying to return what they can.....I asked if they could make sure he got shacked up with Bubba, and they told me they get that request all the time.

Man... glad you're ok... that situation could have been a lot worse...

Did you see their faces? Start a torch and pitch fork mob and bring out the hounds!

Nothing more than a sore ankle and a headache...good thing my head is so thick. Saw their faces, saw their vehicle, but no license plate....cops took almost 40 minutes to show up, then had me wait for another 10 minutes while he talked to his woman on the phone....then tells me its too late and theres no chance that they'd catch them.
I spent half the night driving around town looking for them, been a long time since i've had thoughts like that about hurting someone.

That's the worst part, not the loss of the item, but the lost feeling of trust in people (ok these guys weren't people, somewhere below pondscum)
They are like an infection, spreading distrust to who ever the touch.
I know it will be hard, but hopefully you won't fall into the pattern of constantly looking for them/trusting no one.
