Crap, everyone fill up today... It's going to spike again soon.
Crude oil futures were bolting to a record high Friday morning, supported by a bullish research report from Goldman Sachs regarding prices in the second half of the year.

West Texas intermediate crude contracts were recently gaining $3.53, or nearly 3%, to $127.65 a barrel, surpassing the old intraday best that was just short of $127. Earlier in the session, it hit $127.82. Brent crude was up $3.21 to $125.84 a barrel.

This is probably a sign that we should find another fuel source that we don't have to rely so heavily on other countries for (something clean would be nice, too).

Ha. When gas is over $5 we'll think $4 was a bargain.

Gas went over $135 last night while we were all sleeping and if you have the Today Show (NBC) on right now you'll see Jim Cramer saying we will have $5 a gallon gas in 3 months.

He also said that it shouldn't level off till $6-$7 a gallon as consumers are still using more gas per month even at current prices.

Other analysts like US energy advisor Robert Hirsch predict something much worse...

"The prices that we're paying at the pump today are, I think, going to be 'the good old days, because others who watch this very closely forecast that we're going to be hitting $12 and $15 per gallon,” energy advisor Robert Hirsch said.

It looks like things are going to keep going up for the rest of the year... Makes you wonder what is going to happen. I for one am nervous as $7 a gallon would impact my household greatly. My girlfriend that lives with me drives over 80 miles a day to work and back and in under 3 years she has racked up over 120,000 miles on her car. Do the math on that one and it's ugly.

Go to Google news and type in the search window ... gas siphoning

The total number of hits shows that gas siphoning is at a record high.

It's time to deter would be gas thieves with a locking gas cap!

Click on the on-line catalog link and also check on the link where to buy them.

Looks like I may be getting an apartment close to work, and I will start biking if I it gets that bad.

That locking gas cap is a good idea too, though my gas cap door must be released from inside the car.

I saw a news piece the other day about two brothers who had taken a Toyota Prius and modified it with extra batteries so as to allow it's MPG to reach 98-100! Granted, the reliability is probably a little so-so, but if two guys can do this in their garage I think a multi-billion dollar car company should be able to come up with something. :-k

If someone is desperate enough to steal your gas, they are not going to care about being gentle with your gas cap door. Light pressure with a flat blade screw driver will bend that little piece of spring steel holding the door closed. Mine is so worn out that I can open it with my fingers.

I have seen some where they cut the fuel line coming from the tank and drain it that way.

Remember, where there is a will there is a way.

Oh, I am positive they already have, but those money hoarding fuel companies are LOVING this right now, and they won't let cars be released that lessen the dependency on fuel.

If my car is parked in a parking lot and there is a nearby car with a non-locking door they will go after the other guy. That is why I am not so worried.

Exactly, theives will go the route of least resistance since time is always against them for getting caught.
