Drove passed the gas station by the house Saturday morning on the way to take the kids to see Kung Fu Panda, and I thought to myself I should top off before going. By the time I got out of the movie it jumped from 3.78 to 3.90, most of St. Charles county area is setting at 3.89, St. Louis county is all over the map 3.89 - 4.15.

Ken sent me this picture from LA and I think it sums up the gas prices right now in the country. California is expensive (especially LA), but it's dame near $5 a gallon for premium!

Southern California now is at 4.29 for regular and that's the cheapest gas station (Chevron) I think arco is a bit cheaper...but its...arco....Sucks but its true, dont think gas will be going down anytime soon, so if it ever hits 6$ a gallon, I'm going to buy a smaller car.

I'm paying $3.28 using my loyalty card with Flying J truck stops. Without the loyalty card it'd be $3.58.

It's pumped, refined and shipped out of Oklahoma so transportation costs are lower. We go up there and eat about once a month, and buy a coke now and again and we get 30cents off a gallon up to a hundred gallons.

We're seeing right around $4.00 around here which sucks for a lot of people I know. Most of them have dually trucks and frequently go to horse shows meaning they have a huge horse trailer behind them. At $4 a gallon that means around $.50-1.00 per mile. Just another reason why I dislike horses I guess...

http://www.mcteague.ca/WebPages/gas_price_today.htm

It's a site for tomorrow's gas prices in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Currently, over the next few weeks, it'll provide the true reason why gas prices are so freaken high.

Oh, and if you're wondering whether the site is accurate, it is. It's been 99% accurate over the 3 weeks that I've used it.

Just like I said, just one state over is it was all the difference.
I think California make the companies add different additives to the gas sold there. That probably adds to the higher cost there.

I just heard on a news ssoundbite that another guy invented a car that runs on water. Says he gets 100 miles to the ounce. I guess he'll be dying soon.

Its not really news, the guy has been around a couple years on you tube. The vid says the car can go 100 miles on 4oz water.

Well it does work, kinda sorta not really...he doesn't actually run 'on water' like he claims but instead uses electricity to split the water into hydrogen and oxygen. This is stupidly inefficient and it would be better to just put that electricity straight into an electric motor. TANSTAAFL

The torch isn't a bad idea though if it works as well as he claims.

Yeah, even hydrogen cars requre you to make the hydrogen, which requires some other form of energy. The problem is that it is inexpensive to turn crude into gasoline compared to the payout you get for selling the gasoline. It is expensive to make ethanol, hydrogen, etc.
