LOL, I might be a bit cautious with that cheque :P I'd deposit it in the bank and let it sit out the weekend before I touch it :P jk

I work for a travel agency, and every time I saw someone with a flight for today, I though "Poor bastard."

I knew it was Friday the 13th, two laptops came in for repair, and a desktop. Desktop finished in under an hour, One Laptop about 2 hours, laptop No# 2 7 hours straight fighting it.

125 virii and trojans adware and spyware out the butt, got it all removed, ran XP repair, browser decided to take a dump, finally got IE7 to start loading (3 times) then finally 11 hours into it got it whipped. Normally I wouldn't mind billing 11 hours, my better half told her I'd do it for $60 cause she works with her.

I don't care if the laptop belongs to the Virgin Mary, by the hour or take it to a rip off shop. Normally woulda been a $250-$300 dollar job, or a second 8800gt for some SLI action. But no merely diner at Logans, then the chick says I can pay you on payday. So I say well you can have it back on payday. Mysteriously $60 bucks comes out.

Next Friday the 13th I'm hanging out the closed for the day sign.

I would have got in touch with the client and told them it's too big of a job for mates rates, and that you were going to have to charge them more.

You've got some serious patience to put up with it for that long.

That's what I wanted to do Bio, but there was a version of Oracle on there with a butt load of company data and no one could find the Oracle disks. Other wise it'd have been a reload in a minute.

Lesson number one: Never let the kids use your work laptop for Limewire.

I always hate the ones you can't wipe and reinstall because of xxx reason. I had one client two days before I left town for vacation call me and said "since you're going out of town, should I take this to Geek Squad?". I was there within the hour to pick it up. Fought with it for a while because I knew I didn't have time to accurately back up all their data, reinstall, and put it back before I left town. Now that I'm back to work, I'm ordering a new hard drive and doing the reinstall. Always the easiest way to do it, and none of their data is "gone".
