"King of the Hill" is over the hill at Fox, which is canceling the long-running animated comedy.

Final episodes of the half-hour series, now in its 13th year, likely will air during the 2009-10 season, Fox said Friday. The network recently ordered 13 new episodes, and animated series have a long production schedule.

"King of the Hill" chronicles the life of blue-collar family man Hank Hill of Texas and his family and friends. Hank is voiced by series co-creator and executive producer Mike Judge. Others in the cast include Kathy Najimy, Brittany Murphy and Stephen Root.

The picture is brighter for another Sunday night animated show on Fox, "American Dad," which was renewed for its fifth season. It has posted single-digit ratings gains among advertiser-favored young adult viewers and total viewers.

Ratings for "King of the Hill" have been relatively flat early this season.

"American Dad" is about Stan Smith, a dedicated conservative, and his oddball family in Langley, Virginia. Series co-creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane voices Stan in the series, which also features the voices of Wendy Schaal, Rachael MacFarlane and Scott Grimes.

That sucks, I really like King of the Hill...most of them have been reruns as of late but still a good show.

American Dad is meh...not worth my time. :(

The 2nd longest running cartoon series behind The Simpson's!
Hank will live on for a long time coming!
Fortunately there are several new episodes still left! :)

I have only seen 3 episodes of it, but for some reason I feel sad that it's going away, moreso the fact that tv shows are disappearing then the show itself

That's okay. King of the Hill is pretty good, but it's nice to see it lay to rest.
Always good to end on a high note rather than when it's gets so boring that nobody cares about it anymore.

This is a news item that I found about King of the Hill:

Variety is reporting that the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim has acquired the off-net rights to the King of the Hill cartoon series. Adult Swim will begin cablecasting Mike Judge’s Emmy Award-winning cartoon series that finds its humor in character studies set in a realistic environment in January 2009. The agreement with Twentieth Century Fox TV gives Adult Swim rights to all 13 seasons of King of the Hill—a total of 239 episodes.

According to Variety, King of the Hill will kick off the Adult Swim block an hour earlier at 10pm (ET, PT) and will be followed by reruns of Seth MacFarlane’s popular Family Guy, which has long been a staple of the Adult Swim block, which remains one of the most popular late night destinations (on network or cable) for the hard to reach 18-34 male demographic. The acquisition of King of the Hill and its teaming with Family Guy restores Adult Swim’s opening 1-2 punch, which hasn’t quite been the same since Futurama departed for Comedy Central at the beginning of 2008.

Fox recently cancelled King of the Hill, but creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are in talks with ABC to continue the series for a 14th season

Although I do agree that King of the Hill is a well rooted show, it is not really something that would watch if something else was on at the time. It just never grabbed my attention entirely. I love that AS takes all of these cartoon sitcoms and revitalizes them like it did with Family Guy, and Futurama, though I enjoy the AS originals much more.
