Here's something cool...

Tilt shift photography...
Tilt-shift photography is a creative and unique type of photography in which the camera is manipulated so that a life-sized location or subject looks like a miniature-scale model.

Was that done with a TS Lens Joe? or afterwards with PS?

It's pretty cool what you can do with TS lenses.

to be honest all it looks like they did was take out the shadows in photoshop and add a blur.

No shadows are removed...blur is added and saturation/curve is tweaked.

Anyone have a Panasonic DMC-LX3 p&S camera? I guy at work was talking to me about these the other day and he really wants one. Checking out reviews and stuff, this is a SWEET compact camera. No one seems to have it in stock and those that do, want a fortune for them. I can't even find out if they quit making them. If anyone knows where he can pick one up, let me know...he's kicking himself for not buying a month ago but they only had silver and he wanted black

A friend of my wife has a cousin who is getting married and they can't afford to hire a professional photographer. She has been to the house and saw all of my equipment and gave me a call tonight and asked if I would be willing to take pictures (in a few weeks) of the wedding and reception for a few hundred dollars. I agreed but with the stipulation that I would take the pictures and provide them the images and they could pay me for whatever they felt appropriate based on the outcome since I have never done such a thing before but have done family events (not that it's the same). It's not going to cost me anything but a few hours time and frankly puts a little less pressure on me to do a great job (I'm gonna try though!) and I get some good experience from it.

Anyway, anyone been in this situation before and how did it work out?

Right now, I have the Canon Rebel XTi but have been considering upgrading to the 50D. I think I am set with lenses but I might pick up a 50mm f/1.4...here is what I have:
18-55mm IS
10-22mm
100mm f/2.8 macro
24-105L IS
75-300mm IS

Upgrade to the 50D, I just went from an XS, and the difference is amazing, the 50D is so much easier to use

You're going to love your high ISO performance compared to the XTi :)

I'd think a lens with a low F stop would be great for portraits with the bride and groom in focus and the background all blurry. I'm just concerned that there won't be enough room for you to back up with the 100mm F2.8 so you might want to think about getting the 50mm F1.4 still.

Trust you've got a flash and know all about bouncing it?
(Take plenty of batteries for it)

Shoot in the shade as much as you can, and use direct flash to fill in the harsh sun shadows on people faces where you can't.

Don't forget about filters and a tripod. Maybe a backup battery and memory card. Don't forget the free drinks! :)

Here is a sampling of the wedding pics...

did some retouching here using surface blur & lower opacity layer mask (used healing brush and patch tool as well).

Some experimenting with color...

Looks like you did a good job with the pics.

Just be careful with the post processing, you're toeing the line on her on looking plastic.

I did hear back from them this week, they are thrilled. The bouquet one above was their favorite.
