6yo boy dies at monster truck show

Looks like part of the driveshaft safety cage failed, chunks went into the stands and hit the kid in the head. Couple other people were hurt as well.
As a father of two, I can't imagine what the kids father is going through.

I don't know why people even go to monster truck shows. The "buffer zone" that they create between the arena and where the people sit is just not enough when you have a gigantic truck in a tiny arena.

Re: 6yo boy dies at monster truck show
I always wondered how they could protect someone if something like this ever happened..bummer this occurred. I would've thought rocks or maybe rather small debris but not parts..i remember last one i went to i got hit with all kinds of dirt..luckily it wasn't that bad..could've been worse..so i left..luckily the show(and the beer) was free since i had a friend who worked in the hotel that hosted it so i didn't waste any money on it..but still shifty of this to happen to a youngin'

I would post what I have posted before in this same thread, but I don't need to repeat myself.

About that second story: what the hell? Why do stupid people insist on working dangerous jobs?

Re: 6yo boy dies at monster truck show
thats just terrible luck.
As far as lawsuits go..i dont think the family can sue, there's a clause on the back of the ticket or somewhere and it says if you get hurt walk it off. They can always have the media make some noise and get the company(s) to pay up.

Horrible when something like that happens..hopefully they will make the barriers more protective.

Re: 6yo boy dies at monster truck show
Actually, I can see them making a lawsuit stick because while there may be an accidental injury clause on the ticket, there is still a reasonable expectation of safety. When the safety cage failed, they arguably failed to meet that expectation.Pengwin wrote:As far as lawsuits go..i dont think the family can sue, there's a clause on the back of the ticket or somewhere and it says if you get hurt walk it off. They continued with the show after something like that?
