Camera question

i know there are some people here that know alot about taking a good photo, but what causes this?

on another forum they beleive (seriously) that it is due to the paranormal, he says that no one was smoking or anything when it was taken..
I think, the camera flash went off first then it reflected back on the lens..

lol, that would be fingerprint smudges on the lens

Smoking near the camera gives the same effect as smudges on the lens. I had to reverse engineer a trailer from old photos here at work. The guy that took them was smoking when he took the pics the smoke was in all of them
