Share Your Favorite Proverb

This is my favorite proverb. I'm not sure where it came from, but it is African.
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows that it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It does not matter whether you are a lion or gazelle. When the sun comes up you had better be running.

My learned Cowboy proverbs
- Always drink upstream from the herd.
- Don't squat with your spurs on.
- It don't take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.
- Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
- All hat, and not much cowboy. (Meaning: Refers to someone who presents himself as being better than their actual skill or status warrants (i.e. a 'wanna-be')
- A Good Horse is Never a Bad Color (Meaning: Externals matter little when character and conduct are reliable.)
- A Cowboy Knows the Coffee is Ready When a Horseshoe Will Float on Top.
- Some Cowboys are fools, yet not all fools are cowboys.
- Sometimes it takes a young cowboy, to meet the old cowboy in His saddle.
- Careful as a naked man climbin' a barbed wire fence.
- Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
- Don't interfere with something that ain't bothering you none.
- Real cowboys never run, they just ride away.
A cowboy to the lady...
- A wise cowboy is given her what she needs, not what she wants.
