HR 833 - Federal Reserve System Changes

HR 833 is sponsored by Ron Paul. It's purpose:
To abolish the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal reserve banks, to repeal the Federal Reserve Act, and for other purposes.
The bill was introduced on February 3, and was referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, where it will likely languish without further attention, just as previous bills introduced by Dr. Paul for the same purposes have.... Still interesting though and something I thought you'd like to know about. I also heard last week that the government is keeping an eye on those who have voted for 3rd party candidates due to some of the radical ideals they have.

You're refering to the new document that came out from the Missouri State Highway Patrol? Yeah, it's BS. Wanna know how much BS? My girlfriend got pulled over just for having a NRA sticker on her car. That's right, no moving violation at all. The trooper refused to tell her why he stoped her, made her get out of her car, and demanded to search it.

My GF's a smart cookie and asked what the probable cause was. Where was his warrent? What's his badge number and his supervisor, etc. She promptly called her lawyer while standing on the road side and refusing the officer access to her vehicle. That trooper is now on 2 weeks unpaid suspension.

We have to start fighting back for our rights as law abiding citizens. Things are getting out of hand. I love how the document lumps white supremecists groups in with militias. I also love how they make no mention of the ELF who's memebers occupy 7 of the FBI's Most Wanted.

I hope we find more people like Jessie Ventura and Dr. Paul who are willing to stand up for what they believe regardless of party.

Seriously, Dr. Paul wants to kill the FED? They're just a scapegoat at this point and are hardly responsible for the credit crisis. While imperfect, we haven't had a better tool for managing inflation over the years and to completely repeal the system would definitely hurt us over the course of time. I'm not against radical ideas so long as they make sound sense, and I can't agree with this one because of economics 101.

I respect Ron Paul and his supporters' rights to their opinions, but I have fundamental philosophical disagreements with almost everything they have to say. Especially blaming the FED for everything. I saw during the election that some of the Ron Paul people liked to quote economics textbooks and what-not, but the overall obsession with leaving absolutely everything as unregulated as possible just scares me. No, I'm not "scared of freedom" (the stereotypical Paul-ite response to something like that), what I'm frightened of is misuse of the above.

Also, see above post relating the function of the FED to the overall economy. Completely unfettered capitalism is crack cocaine (see attempts to liberalize Russian markets after the fall of the USSR).

Here's how I see it:
Anarchism <-> Libertarianism <-> Capitalism <-> Socialism <-> Communism
Neither extreme is a good thing IMO (ie Ron Paul is one crazy mofo :shock: )
