How would i rig up a....

Post by kappage »

Aray of these http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-50032-So ... 159&sr=1-6 to charge 2 or 3 12v Car battery's in series to have pernamently setup on my uncles 'hobby' farm (1000Acres) to run a series of 12V lights for use at night, because the Genset makes way to much noise and to get power put on the block it would be ridiculously expensive..

Ideas would be great, jsut to get an idea of what it is like in the bush in Australia heres a picture of the 'stick hut' (lol my evil aunt calls it this)

i believe you would want to get deep cycle batteries for that not car batteries. the batteries would be connected in parallel with a controller between the panels and the batteries. If you planned on using any appliances off the system you would add an inverter to the mix. I would probably break it down to 2 seperate systems instead of a single array, that way you could switch over to a fully charged system if/when the one in use got low on power. You can also buy solar powered generator kits.

The panel you showed was designed for charging a car battery so you would want to buy a solar power connection kit with different connections (something like this)

Edit> also you can ge a much higher watt panel (60 -80) at a better price per watt if you shop around....

OK dragon cooler sounds like ur a bit excited to help... Can i just restate that this is to power some 12Volt Lights at night we have a 3500Watt genset to run the fridge off during the day, (and power tools). So nothing too fancy is needed. At the moment up there we just have an old car battery that we pull out of the L series subaru.

for a few more piccy's of the shanty you can see here
