I can't believe people think that $400k a year is sufficient for someone to run OUR COUNTRY!! (people from USA lol) You get 100x that running a chain of gas stations. And the 2nd place Vice President is only making 180k? WHAT? They want them to cut their income. Do they not realize that 100k cut would do nothing for the country. Maybe make it worse.

The fact of the matter is it is too much, especially if you factor in there pension
In 1959, all living former Presidents began to receive a pension, an office and a staff. The pension has increased numerous times with Congressional approval. Retired Presidents now receive a pension based on the salary of the current administration's cabinet secretaries, which is $191,300 as of 2008.[22] Some former Presidents have also collected congressional pensions.[23] The Former Presidents Act, as amended, also provides former presidents with travel funds and franking privileges.
Yeah, so they should do it for free.

They are also provided secret service protection for life, free health care for life, and a bunch of other benies. What they are getting for pay is pretty much what we call mad money after we pay the bills.

still, even at that, cutting their pay 100k a year, wouldn't do anything.
if 100k= one pound, it's something EXTREMELY easy to pick up off the ground
1,000,000 = 10lbs still easy to pick up with one hand
10,000,000= 100lbs typically the most you can curl with 2 hands (non weight lifters)
100,000,000 = 1,000lbs. Can't budge it off the ground.
1 billion = 10,000 lbs can't put it in the back of a truck without it breaking
10 billion = 100,000 lbs can't even pull it up a hill on wheels
100 billion = 1,000,000 lbs, can't even really imagine this weight it's beyond your brain
1 trillion = 10,000,000 lbs. HUGE amount of weight.
This is just a way to help understand how much we spend in America.
I'm guessing that measly 1lb is not going to help.

What I mean by the income. Yes they get insane benefits. But, I personally know at least 15 people who bring in more than they do from completely other things. Hell 8 are in sales! Not even business owners. The income is plenty to live I'm not saying that. But, if you are smart you don't wanna go and make less than you do for a more stressful job. Pay cuts won't help. Get a president based on logic not morals. And if the income was say 10 million a year. How many more people including professors would attempt to go on the limb and try it? I bet we'd have better candidates. I just feel that the person in control of my country, and MANY things in it should at least make a very stable income, not reduced because of economy.

When I say more than the that in income, I mean ADT sales rep/owner, 15k-22k a week! Top reps make about 5-9k a week. Water treatment sales, 14k a week for 3 owners and the top sales rep brings in about 10k a week. The owner of the water treatment sales company has a PhD in Economics, and in Engineering. I think the president does a little more for the US than they do. The president can basically control the net worth of our country, the strength of our dollar, the alliances around the world. Pick someone bad, and they could destroy our dollar, pick a war with wrong countries piss off the rest of the world, and destroy our economy....
