Station Fire Near My Job

Post by Digital Puppy »

Don't know if anyone has been paying attention to the news from out West, but we have a bunch of brush fires that have been raging for the past week or so. One of the fires named, "the Station Fire", had my work facility closed on Monday since the smoke was very dense and the fire threat at a high.

Here is a map of the affected area.

I've got some pictures that my boss and I took over the weekend (actually since Thursday) that I thought people might want to check out:

yea, all that smoke is coming towards me:(...not much wind to take it away either. I couldn't even see the Strip Saturday night..I've already had breathing issues because of it..hopefully they all(or least most) get put out soon..

Thats crazy. Hasn't it been a very long time since there was a fire in that area?

My dad works for the US Forest Service, and he used to have to go out and fight those things.

I hope you don't lose anything in the fire!

I'm a bit south of you Digital Puppy and we're just starting to see the smoke and haze in the air here. I'm guessing we'll start getting the ash tomorrow. I hope your property is spared. What a shame.

Yeah, I'm good. I actually live 25-miles SW near LAX. Breathing this stuff was bad. It's like the stuff got caught in the air conditioning in our building. Lots of peeps went home or didn't even show up. Hopefully, the wind keeps down and it will be clearer tomorrow.

Yea, that's what I was saying in my other posts. I didn't want to talk to much about it since most people live out of state. The wildfires in CA. are all over the place. I do have some pics right out my front door and the smoke is something else!

I live in Valencia, CA. and work in Northridge CA. Smoke is everywhere.

Well, I'm kind of giving up trying to work in that mess. Our facility doesn't have a fire threat any longer (the fire is still ragging with less than 30% containment though), but the air is just bad and it's hard just going to the parking lot from the building. In fact, it seems that my building's ventilation and AC system is FUBAR'd and the air inside is worse than the air outside!
