Christmas - What Electronic/Gadget Do You Want?
Christmas - What Electronic/Gadget Do You Want?
Assuming you were a good boy/girl this year and you could get any gadget/electronic you wanted what would it be?
For some reason I really want a "beginner" DSLR camera with a couple lenses. I already have a 300x 4GB CF card collecting dust from my SSD experiment a while back. I like photography but with my limited Photoshop skills and not-so-good digital camera (Canon SD1000) I don't take many pictures. Growing up my mother had an old 35MM SLR Nikon that I remember I loved playing around with. I'm content with my computers, I don't need a LED TV (too cheap to buy the Dish Network HD package), and other gadgets I already own or don't need.

The wife asked for a list this year with something other than a shirt or after shave so I said how about:
Canon CanoScan LiDe100 (my old HP doesn't work under W7) **Edited....told the wife this one is fine, forget the LiDe200**
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB

I would like a 5000 series card too, but I would settle for a 48xx series card.

but my 19" trinitron wasn't cutting it anymore. Couldn't pass up the 80-some dollar price cut on the panel I got. As for the other "want" stuff, if I'm going to aim, I'm aim'n high
after re-reading my OG post, it looks like I bought all that this morning... not hardly, shouldn't have bought the panel but I couldnt pass it up. Fixed my post to clarify the "want" part

Re: Christmas - What Electronic/Gadget Do You Want?
My next monitor is likely just going to be a big TV. I have never gamed at really high resolutions so 1920x1080 should be fine. Too bad I can't afford my own Christmas present this year or I would've probably bought it. Damn you economy and business degree!

My wants are not all that spectacularly set too high.
Simply for backups and extra storage, a USB2 Seagate FreeAgent Go 500Gb or higher with the optional dock station would be desired.

Realistically (the tech exists)
- New GPU (9800GX2 is going to start showing its age eventually, even at 1680x1050)
- New dual 24" 1920x1200 monitors to go with new GPU
- New secondary GPU for secondary monitors (seriously, a 7900GTX as a secondary card can get annoying)
Unrealistic (tech does not yet exist but will in the reasonable future)
- WIRELESS POWER FOR EVERYTHING! (I hate cords)

Re: Christmas - What Electronic/Gadget Do You Want?
Honestly, if we could get the wireless technology so that there wasn't a decrease in signal time to the same as being wired in to the system it would be amazing. It's unfortunate about having to have a wired mouse for gaming because of the slight delay it causes when set to higher sensitivities.Sovereign wrote:Realistically (the tech exists)
