TruePower UCS Power Outlet With Built in USB Ports

This item is currently waiting on final UL Approval. It is scheduled to begin shipping in early 2010.

Our custom TruePower power outlet solution includes two Universal Serial Bus (USB) charge ports in addition to the two standard three prong power outlet ports.

Perfect for charging any USB powered device including- mobile, iPod, iPhone, PDA, MP3, PSP, MP4 player & digital camera.

Specifications:
Input voltage: AC 100 to 240V 50/60Hz
USB input current: 80mA
Output voltage: USB: DC 5.0V 600mA
Operation temperature: -15 to 45 Degrees Celsius
Relative humidity: < 95%
Air pressure: 86 to 106kPa

Installation:
This item can be installed on any existing wall outlet.

We will have an installation video available shortly so that you can see exactly what is involved and if this is something you feel comfortable doing on your own or if you will need assistance.

Please also note that the USB ports only draw power when something is physically connected to the port. We didn't want a vampire port that continually sucks and wastes power when not in use so this was one of the features on the top of our priority list during the design phase.

If you have any questions about this specific product please contact mlowdermilk at fastmac.com.

Thank you very much for your interest!

Now that's an awesome little invention. I'll have to look in to getting one or two of those for my Home Office. Only thing is there's no surge protection for the USB ports, so you might want to becareful with not keeping it plugged in during a storm! Anyone say FryPod?

dang, but it'd be nice just to charge something faster and not have it take up a computer front port.

I would love to see these make it, but americans being the way they are, Someone would probably plug a mouse, or digital camera into it, fidget with it because its not being recognized on their computer and die or catch the house on fire.

"Tech Support, my name is Andy, how may I help you?
"My wall computer isn't working"
"I'm sorry, what do you mean by wall computer?"
"I plugged my monitor, keyboard, and mouse into my wall, and they aren't doing anything."
"That is becasue you forgot to plug in your fork. Grab a metal fork and plug it in right below the monitor. You will be surfing the interwebs in no-time."

its not the newest idea though : http://forums.legitreviews.com/about20565.html

but it'll be amazing once it gets standardized(force contractors and electricians to use them in new homes)
