Growing up near woods and having a very woody backyard i am very familiar with posin ivy, although i havent had a bad case of it some people can be immune to the stuff.

I also grew up in the woods (quite literally- the house was surrounded by woods). I can remember fixing fence while growing up, and inevitably my father always had to go to the doc the next day for prednisone. I only had to do that once or twice. Poison Oak is just as bad as poison ivy, IMO. It's 5 leaf, though, and the rash is usually different. A lot of bumps in a line (or several lines) is characteristic of ivy, and the bumps just in a chaotic rash is more characteristic of oak (at least, in the beginning stages of the rash development). Granted, some people react differently, so that is just general terms. I tell you, though...I never let it get as bad as some of those pictures before I was running to the doctor!!

I've never had it either and was raised in the mountains of Colorado, don't even know if they even have it there. And now I live way out in the back woods of Missouri and I'm out cutting trees and clearing my property all the time and I"m still poison ivy and poison oak free............

I had Poison Ivy a couple times. The first time I didn't know what it was, and I was only like what, 7? Yea, didn't know much about that crap. So one morning I woke up and it was all over my legs and arms. It got on more of my body due to my ignorance of scratching and not washing my hands!!

My brother ended up getting it too. Unsure how, maybe by touching me before the rash actually developed or touched my clothes that was covered in the oil?
The second time I got it, I knew what the hell it actually was and what to do and not to do. I believe this time around it was only on a small spot of my arm and gone fast.
Poison Oak isn't five leaves, it's actually three also. They look just like an oak leaf, in bundles of three.

a good way to get back at someone you really don't like is to extract the oil and place it on their clothing somewhere while they're not looking; you laugh and feel pity for that person at the same time, lol (I'm a sick sick man!!!

I was mistaken, sorry...3 leaves..
One way to avoid getting the rash (works, I promise) is to rub your body down in rubbing alcohol after the exposure.

yeah, it would severely irritate the mucuous membranes in your lungs, causing lung problems leading up to things like bronchitis, and even pleuresy, where the fluid in the membrane between the lungs can build up due to the irritation. Not a pretty thing indeed.

ummmm, yeah, Poison Ivy =
BAD!!!
I live in northern Michigan and the stuff is all over the place. I've had it numerous times since I was a child and it is no fun. The worst time I had it (I kid you not) a "friend" of mine (who, shall we say, is no longer my friend), decided it would be funny to throw a plant at me. Well, needless to say, it hit me in right in the face and I got it in my eye. Yeah, my FREAKIN' EYE! It was so terrible I can't even begin to explain the torture I went through for that week and a half.
