I liked the opening but I heard from my friend that the ending failed. What happened?

It wasn't the worst opening I've seen, but when you can tell even Wayne Gretzky thinks it's lame(besides looking cold) then you know it didn't go over well. honestly, I didn't see the point in having to light 2 cauldrons, but after the first one failed I saw the point

There was a malfunctions with the cauldron.
As you can see the left leg of the cauldron did not rise.

The problem, it has been revealed, was a trap door in the floor of the stadium wouldn't open properly, trapping one of the four pillars designed to form a giant cauldron hosting the Olympic flame.

I guess I won't watch it online then...I didn't see the ceremony that night and didn't know if it would be worth watching.

The closing ceremony was equally as bad (or good depending on your opinion) as the opening ceremony. Bah.
