the weather thread

Post by skier »

okay, so i know most area's of the continental US have been having some strange weather this past spring & summer. For maine and much of the east coast, it has been unseasonably warm along with crazy dry weather (as far as rainfall, humidity has been over 50% nearly every day) the first 3 weeks of august saw .06" of rainfall where i live and the past 4 days have been over 90 degrees- being 95 with 50% humidity right now. and to put the average weather into context, i've only seen temps break 100F once in my life here.

man i can't wait for hurricane earl to get up here

It's been around 110+ here. But it's been cooling a little bit. Monday morning I saw 67 for the first time since Spring, which was nice. Here's hoping I see it again before the month is over(doubt it though)

I hate the weather here during the summer, 100 degrees with 85% humidity and a heat index of 116. But I love the winters, rarely gets below 40. Snow is fun to vacation in, not to live with. I'd rather be hot than constantly being cold all the time. Probably has a lot to do with being raised here too. I had to go to Milwaukee a few December's ago and I was absolutely miserable the entire time. Not to mention people from Houston don't have much practice driving in snow and ice either.

well, winter is a whole 'nother story, here it just gets down to -20F as an extreme, can be -10F for weeks though the past few winters haven't really gotten below 20F i have a feeling it will be cold this year

i LOVE driving in the snow, slush gets annoying fast, but nice smooth packed snow is always great- because snow is smoother than the tar on most roads here. i just hate when they decide to waste money on salt because they generally use dirt instead of even plowing a lot of times so it just gets to like 4" of slush on warm days and salt doesnt help anything.

Spoke too soon, hit 85 yesterday. Always seems to get warm in early September when the kids are returning to school.
