I have Google as my home page because it is simple and typically when I start the internet I want to look for something. Lately they are really beginning to annoy the hell out of me with their flash animations. Hey Google if you want to change your logo do it old school and just make it a different picture. Leave the flash alone and stop killing my CPU with your crappy code.
End rant...
Google + Flash = Fail
Re: Google + Flash = Fail
Set the home page to iGoogle, no animations, strip the widgets down for when you are logged in it loads very fast. Faster if you are not logged in.
Google said they did the animation for those that didn't need the menu at the top and just wanted to search. So it wont show until you mouse over it. The iGoogle is just straight up code (for now)

Re: Google + Flash = Fail
The exploding dots was neat the first time. I was referring more to the bushy ball (sp?) animation the other day. It was pegging my CPU cycles with the latest Firefox and Flash installed.
Re: Google + Flash = Fail
Now with the autosearch. For the love of God Google, stop screwing with your homepage. If you want to do this nonsense have a dedicated page for it.

Re: Google + Flash = Fail
I'm telling ya use the iGoogle landing page rather than Google, none of the funny logos and the new auto search is not there.

Re: Google + Flash = Fail
I looked at iGoogle but I couldn't get rid of all the damn boxes. I'll have to look again.

Sign out, or in the upper right of all the widgets click the little arrow, then "Delete this gadget"

Re: Google + Flash = Fail
Use Opera or Chrome and then you just search from the URL bar and it goes straight to results. Other alternative is: Bing.
