Do you have to clap along to dream-crushing raps every morning?

"Young man, young girl, welcome to Wally World. You're gonna be a cashier someday."

"I'm sorry, Bob. I'm going to have to stop you there. I have an engineering degree. This job is temporary."

"Of course, son. Just clap along anyway. Team work is fun work. Now put on your apron."

When I was still at school, I had a part time job working at a supermarket behind the cash register.
I hated that job more the I have hated anything else, because I wasn't one of those employees that spent my free time sucking up to the supervisors, so I was treated like a second class citizen, where it was ok for me to work hours at a time, so others had time to take a break, but I was apparently not entitled to the same.
Also, it taught me that working with the general public is something that is reserved for people with the patience of a saint. People just look at you as a servant, and treat you like crap.
My joyful experience ended with me telling an exceptionally rude person that if they didn't like the job I was doing, they could bag their own sh!t.
A very valuable lesson learnt

That makes me think of the corporate bull**** of putting on a smile and serving customers like a robot. All the big places like walmart and mcdonalds do that. It's fake and dehumanizing. Speaking of robots, I'm sure they'll love to replace all their employees with robots the second it's possible.
