I hate those "18 and over" things, they suck! Do I really have to care about it though?

If the MSRP of the prize exceeds $600 they will need you to return an affidivit of eligablity and tax/SS# and in most cases want it notarized.
No notary will knowingly allow you to lie about your age/ID and stamp it.
I'm sure the age thing has to do with the pubilicty release so they can publish your name and likeness, and as a minor you cannot legally sign away that right..
Some contests allow for minors winning prizes by adding a clause to the rules that the prize will be awarded in the name of the parent or guardian.
So in this contest if you won you might not be able to collect the prize.
"Ineligable (prize) reciever downfield, 5 year penalty, repeat 7th grade"
