During my poking and prodding around looking at various lens for my camera I stumbled upon a rather interesting article that shows you how to remove the IR filter from a canon camera. this article HERE Has anyone attempting this kind of mod? I would like to expand myself into Stellar photography.

I'm having a hard enough time learning how to clean the cmos imaging chip without damaging the canon 30d I have. I have spots on the sensor that I would like to remove, but just to chicken to try anything.

I had that same problem on my camera, I used a q tip with rubbing alcohol and very gently cleaned it. or if you can manage it use the lens cleaning cloth with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. You could take it to a camera guy to get it cleaned
