3 Day Project!

So I've spent the last 3 days working on rehabbing the pool, along with several other people!
IMHO, it turned out pretty good!
4 or 5 day cure time and we can start filling it up!

No, this is not at my house. My wife and I own the house, but rent it to her brother and his family!
No, its not done yet! Probably going to have concrete poured all around pool!
I love the brick work done by my father inlaw & brother inlaw,
but its 35 yrs old and way too much weather, wear and tear to be repaired!
Much cheaper to cover it with concrete, than tear it all up and start over!
Makes me a little sad! Father Inlaw was a great bricklayer!

Nice! Wife has a Coleman 22' or 24' pool LOL Here in Pennsylvania if you have an in-ground pool it raises your taxes a lot because they consider it a permanent edition but an above ground pool doesn't do anything since it is temporary......although you could fill the in-ground pool in with dirt......government, gotta love em!
Redoing the pool means you can raise their rent
Brick would look so much nicer IMO. I LOVE the twisty columns! I WANT the twisty columns!!!! If they go missing, I didn't do it. Wonder if they could just power wash and then redo the grout.

Hmmm, not sure how much the pool effects our taxes!?! Never thought about it...Until NOW!
The twisted columns were one of my brother inlaws doing!
I agree brick would look much better but...The cost is out of my price range!
And... whats there is cracked and weather worn!
If it was just a small portion of the area that is what we would do,
but the whole area needs to be torn up and replaced!
Way too much work, time and money, all of which I either, do not want to do or could afford to pay for!
As far as rent price goes, that's above my pay grade!

Good job so far. Looks awesome. Shame to have to cover those beautiful bricks. The Bricklayers are artists when it comes to what we see here. Your father and brother in law did an amazing job with the brick laying. I to love the spiral columns. Cant wait to see the pool filled with water and bricks covered with concrete.

It is cheaper to pay for a water truck to bring water around here than using the house water (where they have city water)! We have a well at our house and there is no way to fill a pool from that without taking months lol I think we need a better pump for the well or else ours is starting to go dry

I would check out the pricing of a water truck or 3 to see if it may be cheaper for you also. Be quicker too.

My wife checked into having the pool filled by truck and was quoted $1k to $1200 and a 3 or 4 hour fill.
According to Water Co. we're looking at $700 to $900 and probably 3 or 4 days!
The wife being a cheapskate said the hose will do!
After 34 yrs of marriage, I've learned to carefully pick my arguments!
Yeah.... I said "OK" and walked away!

LOL good man! We pay $180 for a 5000 gallon truck per load. They can't get a full semi back our road so we have to do the baby trucks.
Oh one other thing I heard is that in some areas the fire company will fill pools for really cheap or for donations....never hurts to inquire as you could save more money and make the wife even happier and only have to spend half your time in the dog house

Like I said I did Not Argue! So, No "Dog House"!
Yeah the Fire Dept. was the 1st call! They no longer do that, city had/has a problem with it!
Pool is full, it only took a day and a half!
Bummer though the water has turned green! Not sure why!?!
Its been hot here so, maybe algae? Testing now to see whats going on!

Shock it and OVER chlorinate it! One of the best things my friend in New York told me to do with the pool when the wife got it, as we were having the green problems. We have 2 floaters in our 24' pool that are filled with chlorine tablets. We also keep 1 tablet in the top skimmer. After doing that, never had a problem even with it sitting in the middle of the yard with no shade.

I haven't been there the last couple days, been busy putting sealer on the patio!
They put shock in it and filled the chlorine dispenser and wife said green is almost gone!

Where I live(StLouis, Mo area) we joke about the weather A LOT!
Here's a prime example...Today(Friday) its supposed to be 102F...
This coming Tuesday they're calling for a high of 78F!

quite a change in temps there. we had 27c the next day we got 22c and today raining all day and so far the night with 14c. this is when we say welcome to england. where the weather is all over the place, the drivers only care for themselves, if you ride and bicycle on the path your get fined and on the road drivers hate you and will try to run you over and finally friends are family you choose and often end up being your only family.

That brick looks like it held up really well for being 35 years old.
What did it look like before?
