I just called Cingular for Customer Disservice.

Well, they demanded me to report the last four digits SS# of the name on the account. Well, I know my mom's first 2 digits, but not her last two. I confirmed the address and everything, but they wanted the last four numbers just so I could the stupid phone replaced.

Well, I explained my parents are out of the country, so I can't get it. I explained I just wanted the phone replaced, since the store agreed that the problem was the phone malfunctioning.

So, in frustration, I started counting 01, 02, 03 and finally about half-way to 99, she said, "Thank you very much sir. I can now help you."

Holy crap.... :tard: ++

thats ludicrous... mind you its not their fault, they have to follow standard procedure.

I had to phone in the other day for my mums phone, and i was asked for all kinds of details, but i got the password wrong, the guy still accepted it cause i gave him all the other details correct.. so i guess they are not all that bad!

that is pretty lame. i wouldnt have helped you. they have the stupid rules there for a reason. I know they are stupid because i deal with them almost every day. but, if it were me, i wouldnt be giving at all on them. Its there ass on the line if something isnt right.

Just a side note. the reason that those stupid rules are there...is probably because when that rule wasnt their they got sued or threatened to get sued because it wasnt handled right. Many stupid things are in place probably because some got sued over it.

Well, they aren't supposed to use the SS number for ID purposes.

It wouldn't be an issue, if they weren't so bitchie about my mother's SS#. It's my phone, I pay them. It is just because I get an extra 200 minutes in the family plan that I have it.

Now, you may say, "Then get off the family plan.", but I had to personally sign the contract, not my mother, therefore I should be allowed access to my part of the contract without needed my mother to "hold my hand".

Besides, it wasn't like I was asking for a big thing. I just wanted to get my phone replaced, since they gave me one that decided to quit working. I could maybe....maybe understand if I wanted to close the entire account, but I just wanted them to freakin' exchange my phone, since the store didn't have any of my model.
