hi im trying to run two copies of the same game on one computer. i dont think that is impossible but i need the advice for a friend... he is trying to run warcraft 3, 2 copies of it. i know he has a computer that can handle about 3 games at once but trying to run the same game is wut he is looking for to do some kind of multiplayer gaming.

Some games will only let you run one instance of them, i.e. once youve started the game, trying to run it again will result in an error saying this game is already started.

The only way to find out would be to start the game, then minimise out of it ("alt+tab" or "windows key+d" ), and try to start the game again.

If they are thinking of playing both games on the screen at once then i dont think you can do that, you'd have to keep switching between them.

Still not sure why they'd want to do this, but try the above and see if you can.

Ah, yeah, if the game needs the disk to run then you will need to install a second copy from a virtual drive.

That would probably sort out the only one instance problem too.

Current videocard don't allow the sharing of resources, so only 1 3-D app can run at once on the gpu.

But wont the switching between thing work? I'm sure i was playing frets on fire when my friend had some game minimised on the taskbar.

The key is "minimized" The game that is minimized is not in 3D mode. If you have two videocards (like me) and two monitors, I suppose you could run two games at once, but as for making two keyboards, two mice and two sets of speakers work...well...
