I am a HUGE Nascar fan and watched the news conference at 11AM where Dale Jr. announced he will be leaving DEI at the end of the season.
NOTHING else was said - no team where he is going, Martin Truex is not going with him as of yet, etc etc.
Gonna run a 30 day poll on this one to find out where you think he will end up.
My vote is RCR, but he might just build his own team.
Wherever he goes he will get HUGE amounts of money! HUGE!

Bigger question...will his sponsors go with him? Budweiser?

I'm not a NASCAR fan, but isn't DEI the family biz, what will come of that?

I read last night that Dale Jr. will be going to JR Motorsports along with Truex AND BUD is going too!
The article says they will run Chevy's from Hendricks along with Hendricks motors!
There are provisions in the BUD contract if Jr. leaves early!
Bud can cancel the contract and go with Jr. if he leaves DEI or is not driving the #8 car.
Today they say where he's going is unsure but yesterday it was JR Motorsports!
As far as DEI goes Teresa will probably run it in to the ground

She just made the mistake of her life, then again maybe Jr. just didnt want to have to answer to her!?!

Actually all that is wrong so far

They actually do NOT want to start a team from JR Motorsports unless absolutely necessary. Bud will probably go with him because he is THE name in Nascar but the #8 will stay with DEI.
We shall see in the future!!!

The story I read the other night is no longer available(of course) thats why I made sure to put this line in my post....Today they say where he's going is unsure but yesterday it was JR Motorsports!
I'm not the biggest fan since all the rule changes and the Japanese Cars entering the arena!
Right now I think NASCAR is its own worst enemy!
Even their top drivers are criticizing them about the way they are conducting the races, in particular caution flags and then there's the COT(Car Of Tomorrow)
Jr., Tony Stewart and a couple other drivers have been very vocal about how they feel about the COT!
Ok, enough of that.
In a perfect world Jr. would drive for RCR in the #3 and do at least as well as Sr. did!
Any way it goes I will be a Jr. fan, partially because of his father and mostly because he chose to do it his way!
GO Jr.!

True or not - dunno yet - it is the most logical step for him though.
FOX25 Exclusive: Dale Earnhardt Jr. to Join Richard Childress Racing

NASCAR drive Dale Earnhardt Jr talks about his future during a news conference at JR Motorsports in Mooresville, N.C., Thursday, May 10, 2007. Earnhardt Jr. will leave the company founded by his late father at the end of the year in a shake-up certain to ignite a bidding war for NASCAR's most popular driver. (AP Photo/Chuck Burton) You may not find this news to be a big deal locally, but it is nationally.
NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr. will soon be racing under the same legendary #3 Chevy that his dad used to race in.
A source with direct knowledge of negotiations tells FOX25 that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has finalized a deal with Richard Childress Racing Thursday night and an official announcement will be coming soon.
What this means is that Dale Jr., NASCAR's most popular driver and one of the highest paid athletes in the world will now partner up with Richard Childress, the same man who Dale Earnhardt Sr. starting driving for in 1981.
At a press conference today to announce that he was leaving the company his late dad built, Dale Jr. said he would have mixed emotions about driving his dad's #3 Chevy, but again, FOX25 has learned that this is a done deal.

I take everything with a grain of salt except what Jr said himself - He is leaving DEI, thats it

Until they have an official announcement, everything is just talk.

What has he done beyond having the "right" family name??
Sr. he isn't
Reminds me of Kyle Petty he seems to be a really nice guy but I don't think he's a top notch Nascar driver.
He has been on what once was the Top Team in nascar but he hasn't made much of the opportunity.
I'm so over Jr.

All those news reports are wayyy premature. Most people have their money on him moving to RCR which would be like family and possibly puts him in the #3 car. I will go against the tide and say that he runs with Joe Gibbs. Gibbs only has one other driver - Tony Stewart - who Jr. gets along with quite well and they run together on the track good too.
No way is Jr. going to Hendricks. That team already has 4 drivers under contract through the next few years and two of those drivers are cup champions and a third who is near the top of the standings. Remember, teams can only have 4 drivers on a team.
Jr. will probably go to RCR, but I'll pull for him to join Gibbs. My first choice would be for him to stay at DEI, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do.
