S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Release Date - August 29, 2008

Post by Apoptosis »

Just got an e-mail from the guys that made S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and it seems they have finally released the date for the prologue.
27 March 2008

GSC Game World, computer games developer, its publishing subdivision GSC World Publishing and Koch Media, a leading marketer of video games, today announced the planned release date for the title S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. According to the agreed plan, the game will ship August 29, 2008 worldwide. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will be published by the games labels Deep Silver and GSC World Publishing.

"The topic of the release date for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky has created a lot of interest among gamers, press and fans. We’re pleased to announce an exact date for this highly anticipated game now," said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, Managing Director of Koch Media.

"Our intention to deliver the game simultaneously worldwide is both a challenge and big responsibility to the many fans of the game around the globe. We are looking forward to achieve this ambitious goal in August." - said Sergiy Grygorovych, GSC World Publishing CEO.
The new game will be DirectX 10 compliant (no word about DirectX 10.1 features) and the story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011. Basically this game happens before the catastrophe that can be seen in the released game. All I can say is that I hope they get the bugs worked out quicker in this one.

Game features:

* Atmosphere of the Exclusion Zone
* Research of new depths of the Zone – Red Forest, Limansk, Pripyat Undergrounds and more.
* A-Life-driven War of the Factions
* Possibility to play and lead any faction to victory
* Advanced A-Life system
* Varied behaviour of NPC stalkers in the A-Life world
* Advanced spectacular storyline scenes
* Improved AI of computer-controlled characters
* Skirting around dynamic obstacles by NPCs
* Use of grenades by NPCs
* Fast Travel
* Improved concept of detectors, artifacts and anomalies
* New system of upgrades for weapons and armor
* Weapons and armor repair
* Reworked HUD and PDA
* New version of the game engine - X-Ray 1.5.
* DirectX 10 renderer
* Improved DirectX 9 renderer - parallax bump, soft particles, depth of field, motion blur, eye adaptation effect.
* Cutting-edge and detailed game graphics (normal map)
* Inverse kinematics
* New animation engine

OH THANK GOD!

I can't wait for this, I loved the original Stalker. Though with all of the delays on the original, I doubt we will see this on time.

Screen Shots have been sent out to some press sites in Germany (go figure the developer is from Germany)

I think they look great!

Are we the only two people in the forum looking forward to this? or is it just me?

That looks great, some nice DX 10 goodness in there.

It is an awesome game, takes some skill to play, and you can't beat it in a sitting. Definately worth the $20. It has some tense moments too, just wait until you face your first bloodsucker :)

As soon as I get my new build together I am definitely buying the original STALKER on Steam. It looks like a great game, I just didn't have a PC that could handle it!

Oh, yeah... Guess my new system will be ready on time! I hope the game will be less buggy than the first one, because it was saved only by cool weapon FX and never dying russian humor.
