GRiD
GRiD
I just got this game yesterday. I must say: It is an awesome game! This is the first time I have ever had a racing game on PC, and it seems to work well even with a keyboard instead of a gamepad. It runs great on max settings, and I even have AA turned way up (Max AA runs well for the most part, but there were a few sections in some races that were slowing down)
I just have one question for anyone who may have this game. In the replays it almost seems that the button that rewinds the replay is stuck, so it automatically rewinds the replay, and I have to hold the fast forward button to make it go forward. Also, when I am viewing cars, the camera just spins around the car really fast and cannot be stopped. Is this the game or is it my computer?

Re: GRiD
Thanks to one smart poster on [H] I have solved my problem. I have my Guitar Hero guitar plugged in all the time, and it is picking up the motion sensor and making the cars spin in the view mode and making the game automatically rewind my replays.
Did you guys know you can use the Guitar Hero guitar to play Crysis? it is impossible to play like that, but it works! I think strumming shoots, and the tilt of the guitar aims up and down.

Re: GRiD
It is cool that it works, but not cool in a sense that it is playable. Try it out though, it is kinda funny.

Re: GRiD
I bet that would work. I recently saw a foot powerd mouse system, maybe that would work too... It would take forever to get used to though!

Re: GRiD
I was looking at GRID, too. I'm wondering if my new CPU will run it at stock settings tho. I think (the damn print on specs on the box was so damn small I went blind trying to read it) the minimum specs called for a P3 or maybe it was a P4 @3 GHz. My first choice was NFS Pro Street but now I'm having doubts whether my rig will run that one even after I get the new graphics card since it requires at definite 2.8 GHz. I'm still earning the whole Dual Core thing and what, if any, effects it has vs a single core with higher frequency. Hmm, guess I ought to put my new specs back in my sig.
Thanks,
Jack
Thanks,
Jack

Re: GRiD
It is optimized perfectly, so if you are talking about the CPU in your signature you will be able to run the game just fine. You may not get to turn the AA all the way up, but that's ok.
For games you don't have to have exactly the right amount of CPU clocks that the game states. Back in the day I used to play StarCraft on a machine with a 75mhz pentium 1, and it required a 90mhz processor. Game still ran flawlessly.

Re: GRiD
I've ordered this and with any luck it should be here tomorrow, I've really gotten into the game through playing at my friends house.
We use a 360 pad, and it works pretty well. I don't have a 360, so can't use the pad, and I wanted something more in terms of controls (we keep saying how much more fun GRID would be with a wheel), so I've ordered a Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel to play it with (and so did my mate). 900 degrees of rotation and some kicking force feedback are going to really add something to the game
When the wheel gets here we are going to have a mammoth racing LAN sesh, I've shotgunned his HD TV as my rig's monitor, so it's going to be epic ^_^

And not even a thank you for the recommendation on the wheel...alasDMB2000uk wrote:so I've ordered a Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel to play it with (and so did my mate). 900 degrees of rotation and some kicking force feedback are going to really add something to the game![]()

J/k,

Re: GRiD
I am still debating a 360 controller. A keyboard is fine for me with Grid, and I have no other games to play with a controller, unless GTA IV comes out for PC. Although... has anyone played battlefield 2 with a 360 controller? I like to fly, and just can't get into the jets. BF2 would justify a 360 controller purchase if it works well.

Thanks for the reccomendation Kyle, If the wheel's suck, I'm blaming you!Alathald wrote:And not even a thank you for the recommendation on the wheel...alasDMB2000uk wrote:so I've ordered a Logitech Driving Force Pro wheel to play it with (and so did my mate). 900 degrees of rotation and some kicking force feedback are going to really add something to the game![]()

J/k,really hope you guys enjoy the wheel(s), I may have to pick up a copy of this game, GT4 is getting a bit boring...

GRID works so much better with a controller over the keyboard, for one it lets you have an analouge range of gas and brake not to mention improved steering control.vicaphit wrote:I am still debating a 360 controller. Not sure if it's been fixed, but there are posts around the net complaining of no mouse look with BF2 (on the 360 pad), so unless someone/activision has made a fix, you will be pretty crippled. Keeping it set up and next to you for flight controls though would work

Re: GRiD
That is what I was planning. I need a variable control for throttle that my keyboard can't provide. I usually either overshoot my target or throttle down too far and stall.DMB2000uk wrote: Keeping it set up and next to you for flight controls though would work
I am glad I got this game even though I have no internet to play on. It is even fun with bots.
