FRAG: the Story Behind Pro Gaming

Post by skier »

The true story of professional video gaming. Almost everyone in the world has played a video game, but some kids do it for a living. FRAG shed light on the struggles that kids face while trying to break into and maintain success in pro gaming. At a young age, they are faced with making adult decisions that impact the rest of their lives. Below the surface of a simple game is an underbelly of corruption, money, drugs, and even death. Exploited, abused, and abandoned, most gamers fail to reach the top, but like all sports, there are heroes, FRAG pulls the curtain back on the biggest sport industry in the world..one that you know nothing about.
if you're into gaming at all, should look into this series, its a great documentary

Being On a highly Competitive Team Fortress 2 team myself, this was one of the best things i've ever seen on Youtube

Cevo-Free Princeton Plainsboro Beats ESEA-invite Vicious Gaming -shameless plug =D

there are also anti-cheat apps you have to run for most online tourney's and the one for the Current Alienware tournament has bandwidth usage that maxes out my 180k/28k^ connection, which makes things.....interesting, to say the least (300+ping randomly)

Excellent post I watched it all. Very interesting and sad to say the least. This certainly changes my views on quakecon and the pro gaming. My heart goes out to em!

Anyone who says gaming isnt a sport, but will fight poker is to the death..the only difference is....Well there really isnt much of one. It would be funny to see gaming end up in the Olympics!! aHAHAH

Total Warfare? I thought that the competitive RTS scene was pretty small. AOE2 ATW.

Ok, after watching those I know a couple things.

1. Don't think I could stand 5 minutes in a room with Fatality. I'd have to hurt him.
2. Most of the competitive gamers interviewed are are some whinny bitches, not all of them, but a good bulk of the ones interviewed.
3. I like to game, now way I would spend the bulk of my day, every day, gaming; or give up on completing school to do it either.

woops, meant Team Warfare League TWL, they do L4D/TF2/CS/COD leagues (22 games total) i play Team Fortress 2 like some other ppl here do, there are several leagues i've played in before too(STA, CEVO, CAL, UGC, ESEA etc.)

oh, and i know the person in the 7th vid, Carnage, who pissed on his laptop  , he primarily plays TF2 now but was pro in Quake, currently plays for Complexity (coL.) in tf2

DAMN! I was hoping to creep into the Pro-Gaming scene with my epic AOE2 Skillz,, because I, honestly, suck at FPSes, although I do play quite a bit of CS:S.
