Okay, I'm confused. The Gold, Silver, and Bronze packages are only available through Steam? What about retail? My brother stopped in at EBGames and they only have Gold and Bronze listed in their system. I guess my big question is, if you buy HL2 off of Steam, do you get the DVD or CD's (depending on package bought)?? I sure as hell don’t want to go pay $80 for the Gold at EB (Yes, that's the price) to get a bunch of **** I don't want. Instead, I was willing to pay an extra $10 off of the $50 base price to get it on DVD format and get CS:Source, HL:Source, and DoD:Source.
Can anyone clarify this for me please?
Half-Life 2 Packages -- I'm confused...
No one can answer this?
I guess to what I understand, they are doing exactly what I said, 3 different versions through Steam and 2 in retail stores. I can tell you, I'm a little disappointed that I have to shell out $80 to get it on DVD and to get the other Source games. I can get exactly what I want on Steam for $60, but no DVD. (right??)
But what about the CD/DVD thing? Is that a no-go if you buy it on Steam?

yeah if you pre-load it off steam you don't get a disc mailed to you. I'm almost certain you could find a way to burn it somehow though. There is always a way. As for the different bronze, silver, and gold this is what I do know for sure... Not sure about the DVD stuff though...

That's so weak on Valve's part. Come on! Bring out three packages on Steam and only two packages in retail stores! What the hell are they thinking? Oh yeah... I know. MONEY! They know that since people want Half-Life: Source and the others, they will PAY MORE to get those! I'm going to be one of those suckers who is going to pay that $80!
Oh well... guess you can't have everything!

I was playing computer games then too!infinitevalence wrote:back in my day all you got with the game was a set of floppy disks and a manual printed on a laser writer. so quit complianing.

We've still got some of our games that were on the 5" floppy's and some on the 3.5". I Know my brother was trying to burn them all to a CD since a couple of those went bad.
But still, I didn't want to shell out $80 for HL2 to get what I want.
